It's getting really annoying, retreating when you are losing. So here is one way to stop people from keep doing it. It consists of 2 modifications:

1. increase the time you have after going out of border before your ship retreats. This does 2 things, one, if you go out of bounds accidentally, it gives you more time to move back into play. two, if you want to retreat at end of battle, it gives other team more time to sink you.

2. if you do retreat by going out of bounds, for whatever reason, you get a penalty. It could be EXP reduction, or simply have your ship count as sunk and you have to pay repair cost. This takes away the incentive to retreat since you have to pay repair cost anyway.

too many of leechers running from map ... I wrote a topic about this in the past ... nobody cares (and some like Zyzzo discouraged to support my suggest because he is one of them):

I'm sure your suggestion is workable, but that doesn't matter.

You see, the border retreat issue is what we call "an unintended consequence".

Definition: Fix one problem, create a new probem.

The problem with border retreating is that it did not exist until the geniuses fixed the border humping problem with bombers.

...or they can move the top rocks(and hitbox) a couple of pixels south...

No need for penalty ideas.

No rec.

Recommended. I just accidentally retreated out of a game that I was winning because my ship (Kaga 1927) took longer than 15 seconds to turn around and then get back out of the retreat zone on the border of the map. Simply increase it from 15 seconds to 20 seconds and problems like this could be avoided.

You can not increase the return time to greater than 15 seconds.

I've done plenty of testing on this, it gets way too easy to abuse the border with fast ships if it's too long.

Fix one problem...break something else.

Just get rid of No Way Out 1 as a map.  It's a big lake. No, actually it's a small lake.  Use Blue Ocean as default and the borders are well defined...(off the cliff).

I just..Have no hope for bigots. Uninstall the game if you dont like people playing differently than you do.

Apparently bigots like you dont understand that WITHDRAWING is a a logical plan from time immemorial.

If you dont like people retreating then give them a  reason to stay by winning.

Common sense would have more people withdrawing from battles, but plenty of barriers have are in the game to prevent accidental or intentional withdrawing.

----------

1 There are barriers on most maps limiting certain areas as useable withdrawal areas.

2 There is a counter to delay withdrawal so its not instant.

3 On areas where it is not designated from withdrawal you have to be at 0knots, wait 60 seconds, and be unable to defend yourself.

4 rewards are determined mainly by damage done, so practically speaking fighting is more rewarding than retreating.

---------------------

The problem isnt withdrawing, as that is fairly balanced without being harsh. The problem is bigots who make demands of a team of individuals with free-will for not acting like mindless slaves helping them win.

Wins and losses are minor as this game doesnt allow power-leveling. So you win? You have hundreds and thousands of other battles to look forward to. If youre obsessed with winning youre just obsessed with a video game that people play for recreation.

The most annoying thing is is that you have the follow a player for five minutes when he just decides to retreat at the north border, but well the same goes for subs who keep going on when the battle is over...

I gave up on both and just retreat when it takes me too long to get there. ^^

I 'll say again, this is solved doing a perimeter that side (as in hobbit war ) .

but is that there is none editing maps and arranging these things , events and give away smokes are more important seems
