I get the certificate warning and it only refers to its date of valility from the issuer having expired. SDE needs to re-apply to the certificate issuing authority (and pay) for a new one. It is used to show the web site is valid, secure and not a in essense a scam. That being said I am not concerned as this web site has been around for a long time and has no malicious intent. If it were a web site I am not familiar with I would not trust it.

It is a matter of trust, and for me is very hard to trust SDE.

Several tickets to SDE over past 3-5 years

1. Copyright on various pages of the  website are invalid

2. Copyright on game splash screen is invalid

3. Certificates in use for website have expired.

4. Digital Signatures on application are expired (2013), are SHA1 with 1024 RSA and will most likley be rejected by MS patch later this year. Recommended change to SHA2 immediatley.

In November 2013, Microsoft announced that they wouldn't be accepting SHA1 certificates for application signatures or websites after 2015.

Will the game last that long.....

5. None of the security pages on the site are actually secure with anything.

I'm annoyed with the C++. Everytime I close the game I have to see this window....

something similar happened on my laptop which runs windows 8....then shortly thereafter proceeded to activate a particular worm that said'this machine can not run in a virtual setting' or something like that.i forget the name of that bug, but it shut down NF evertime i tried to load game.

i just recalled the name of the virus/worm----THEMIDA. studying Gamebooster analysis data helped to pinpoint a possible source of the problem.  

after restoring my lappy to its BEGINNING  configuration, i used selective updates and disallowed anything that had .NET or C++ in it or anything of the sort.  all problems promptly ended with NF. 


and i played happily ever after...
