Don't expire medals after a month. It takes too long to get enough medals as it is to buy anything. It is impossible for a normal player (even with events).

Please do not cancel the medals tonight (7th January 2015). I have 189 medals. That is not enough to buy anything. It has taken me since the start of the event to gain that many.

Yes medals are too slow to get, that's why you should be able to sell your ships and stuff for medals. see my suggestion and recommend
