I haven't logged on for awhile and when I did I noticed all my sailor stats reset. Is there now a new optiumum way to level them up? I tried searching the forums by the search function doesn't work well. I have a UK BB line in the 70s, a KM CV crew in the low 50s, and KM SS in the 40s.

Hi - there's not too much for you to worry about for the bb line.  There are opinions about the sonar/planesman classifications for all nations. As for the CV - there's also the discussion of not classing fighters beyond  Fighter Pilot and then trying to over vet, where some say it depends on how many vets you plan to have to determine how much further to class fighters.

You will need to copy/paste the links.

For fighthers - about 4th reply down:

For sonar/planesmen - about 5th replydown. Planemans class on time, sonar varies:

Thanks for the response. Although you say there is not much that can go wrong with BB. How exactly should I consider leveling the gunners? Is there a ratio between accuracy and reload? How about the rest of the crew?

For the Gunners it will come down to personal preference.  I have both lines of UK gunners, and overall I will use the reload pair over the accuracy pair.  There's lots of discussions out there with a little search effort.

Here's a stickied thread in Tips and Tactics -Temp Repost: Adalbert's guides on ability - that will answer all sorts of questions you may have. For gunners you want to review sections 2 and 3.

as for classing sonar....sonar range is based on true ability and not level.

Base range is 9.25

when ability reaches 620,000 range is 10.5
when ability reaches 1,160,000 range changes to 11.75
when ability reaches 2,130,000 range changes to 13
no more changes after that.

You can see that it goes in steps so classing, adding vets and experts takes some thought.   You may add some and see no change in range as you have not gotten past the true ability step.   However, they will add to the repair/restore ability.

For US as an example, sonar potential increases by 1 for each lvl.   However, repair/restore growth is reduced by 8 for 2nd sonarman, by 7 for 1st and by 6 for chief so it is best to class on time.

Since range is based in tiers, you can remove crew from your sonar sailor to save weight.
Just have enought vets and experts to keep the maximum range and reduce the number of rookies.
