It's been a long, long time since I played Op Convoy, one of my favorite game modes in NavyField. Even years ago when there were two servers, Nebraska and Kaiser, it was sometimes difficult to get an Op Convoy going. I'm sure it would be impossible today.
So I want to get together a group of players who want to put together a few games of Op Convoy sometime. If you're interested chime in to this thread!


What is Operation Convoy, you might ask?
It is basically a One-Flag Capture the Flag game mode. It can be created in any battle area (the same areas where Great Battle and Blitzkrieg live). It rewards pretty much no experience or credits if I remember right, but it's a lot of fun and a nice change of pace to your normal grind.

In a round of Op Convoy, there is a cargo plane which is shot down in the very middle of the map. This cargo plane drops a crate, which both teams desire. In order to score a point, a team must capture the crate and take it to the scoring zone. There is one scoring zone for each team, but to reach a scoring zone, a player must get around to the other side of the enemy's spawn. If a player is killed, the crate is dropped and floats in place for a period of time. After that time passes, the crate respawns in the middle, but it can be collected before it resets. Also, the crate's location is always marked on the minimap, even if it is being carried by a player.

There are three rounds and three specially designed maps which appear in a random order over the course of an entire Op Convoy battle. You cannot bring a BB, CV, or SS to an Operation Convoy - the biggest ships you see are CAs. It does give you the chance to play lower level ships you loved, like the Brooklyn or even DDX, with their anti-ship armament.
