  • Veteran players vs steam newcomers, a concern?

    07. 29. 2017 14:18

I've just read about NF1 going to steam and decided to return once again.  Though, there's one thing that comes in my mind...

How would NF1 be able to leave a positive first impression and a warm welcome, If these newcomers will consistently be facing very experienced players(like lvl120, BVE etc)?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that being a veteran is a bad thing :P, but I can somewhat foresee that new players will become 'feeders' for the veterans, since this ain't one of those arcade games which can be mastered or 'catch up' in days or weeks, they'll keep geting rekted by old players instead of playing against equal players, and eventually rage quit before able to experience the game fully.

 Am I just overthinking?

Hi Lymark:
Thats the reason we are giving some extras to BlitzKrieg.
I think many of us had a good school from veterans on that kind of rooms. Beside that, remember, newcomers will bring new blood for fleets, and as ex fleet-officer (and ex fleet-newby player) i can tell you, the best way to learn is from old vets. This is my personal opinion in this matter.

Thanks for comming back, it's good to see people returning to our (some-times) lovelly community. Any help you need, count on us.

Best regards, and good hunt Captain!.

Juven.-

I don't think that it is a concern. The new players might just be inspired by seeing all the bigger ships and want to level faster. It gives them a goal to accomplish.

Trade would help oncenew players comealong i ve always seen "need help" rooms in trade area and my self or even others would drop in and give away a couple mil in creds to help new player get started , or help them with Sailors we no longer need or want that should help balance the wanting to rage quit if they see how players help each other get threw the grind.

As far as Gb and rolling new players , they will see how much skill and time it take to lvl and want the same if they have many other player doing the same " new grind "  .. and start in small ships together they will fall in line to catch up.

But trade should be a part of our game we players always have had the way of getting sailors we needed for grinds or creds .. something to think about ..

 thanks ,

Even if Steam double the amount of players we have now its still a mistake to devide the low playerbase into seperate rooms. Then again it seems SDE is hoping a couple of us "veteran " players will buy there blitz crew and feast on the few new players who are willing to give NF a try.

They are going to get slaughtered and rage quit.

They wont know about Soft Defense.

They wont level the proper crew ratios. (Gotta laugh at the guys running 4 Engy 3 Rep 1 Restore etc etc)

103 levels to a BB5 and you are still gonna need to level EXTRA support since you cannot trade for it. Then even after you get your BB5 you will get slaughtered battle after battle by "Expert" ROFL Charlemagne drivers....... Noob GB Ship.

If some are successful, they are probably returning Old school players.

If they are new and successful. You will see most in UK, SN, and MN.

Personally I would start UK or SN. UK for support advantage and Lion(s) are beasty and UK is versitile... You can use armor or no armor.

SN for small starting BBs so they are harder to hit and thats a huge advantage. Then you get some decent range ships with high DPM.

MN is a good one to start to as they have good support. Smaller ships. Great damage.

IJN is decent too but the mid level BBs are hard to play and support is teribad til high levels. BB4 Yamato is a beast tho. SY is prolly one of the Best BB5s. If they can last that long. You are rewarded with those two. Unfort the BB6 is a let down after the nerfs. Same with RM. Italy is just not worth it. USA the same, Meh, but you end up with a great BB6. KM. LOL Paper low dagage range dont matter because MN Charly will eat you up.

Oh well.. I'm just gonna hope for the best for NF1 regardless of the result to the players!

Unrelated question(Don't wanna spam the forum with question threads): Can BO be traded? I'm planning to start a UK BB line with my return this time. I'm always bad with RNG, and I have spent 2 hours trying to roll a 15 BO with no luck. Looked up the trade in game, and it's empty. So, I thought I might gonna ask here for a trade(All i have is 4mil tho).  Will probably gonna buy some oilve as well for some elites to ease the rolls.

Trade system has been shut down a while ago. Nothing is tradeable right now. But blitz give drops because of the ongoing "Taste the Power" event, and Elite Potential drops are quite common.
