I know this game for probably 10 years or more now. I dont consider myself a "pro player", but I did considered NF my favorite game ever. And man, I really miss those old days!
As the time gone by, iv'e seen this game going downhill and this really upsets me. Servers got empty. Crashes and bugs were frequent. But I had a light in the end of the tunnel. NF2 was being developed.
We waited years for NF2 wich was supposed to be a updated version of Navyfield but ended up being just a shallow, limited game with better graphics. (that will be shutdown in next december.)
Even after years that I stopped playing because of many bugs I have never found any game fun as this one and Navyfield always stayed in my memory.
This week I got a email saying that you guys trying to bring it more players trought steam. I got excited. But that didn't last long. As far as I see, nothing have changed.
I had trouble to login and had to find a way on how to solve. Not user friendly at all. That means new users will have trouble and probably give up and uninstall the game.
Other issue I had is because of its outdated code, my 4k laptop shows the game in a really bad aspect ratio.
After overcoming all those problems, there I was, in my account ready to join in a game room. Then 7 minutes in a GB room waiting and nothing. Where are the new players? Oh, yeah, they had trouble to login and gave up.
Lets try a blitz room. Boom. client crashed. And here I am. Writting this farewell letter. This game reminds my childhood and endless fun.
Far from the kid from the past, im now almost in my 30's, married and really disappointed to see how bad a great game is being managed and maintained. (and what it have become)
This game didnt deserve to be treated this badly. Its full of features and great gameplay. I will forever miss those old days. I will be playing world of ships, but that thing is nowhere near fun as navyfield was. Farewell, Navyfield.
