  • Diff control saves & visible on map

Hi All,

Couple of ideas I had.

I use different controls for my SS, then for my FF, DD, CL, CA & BB.  (Don't have a CV)

So maybe the ability to save more then one set of controls would be great as I have to change all my controls
when I change ships.

On the small map in the bottom right hand corner I thought it would be good to have the teams' visible area
and non-visible distinguishable. Maybe just using light and dark same as on big map.

Thanks for listening.
Thanks for your work on the game.
JJ

none of the control overlap unless you have yours set that way, but I see no issue with having an option to set certian controls for ships like other games have

that kinda what I do .....

Q - Dive
E - Critical Dive
A - Toggle Torp Speed
W - Increase Speed
S - Decrease Speed

I am assuming If I have a CV (not had one yet) I would do something close, altitude as Q - E etc.

That's why I thought 3 preset save slots Controls A/B/C should be easy and helpful.

I have the default NF setup, i changed dive/critical dive to U and O, (I confuses with l, L) and plane setup is l ; ` , . etc

exactly but some of us switch among ss, cv, and bb or got use to playing ss with QWE but need to use BB for HA or something.

it would be a pain to always edit the keys between battles or, worse, forget to change and not be able to crit dive in the middle of the game.

JJ here wants to keep exclusive settings based on each ship type.

well i am afraid that would be ...
just to tell a CV with guns share many commands with a BB or any Gunned ship, unarmed doesnt, (first complication and second) subs in fact share too a lo of commands, from aiming with torps (minor in short range but can help a lot in extended shots) and last but not least subs have guns too, i know only KM ones are really effectives but nontheless you have to keep that part of subdrivrs in mind.
Prior to revolutionise the command settings (which you can personalise already) of all the players and request a HUGE effort (small effort x great ammount of people = Huge effort) to learn to play again to just maybe set the command in the manner you just have to switch your hand of 5 digits to have the new setting and have the same spatial disposition.

And btw:

Is that difficult to press f10 (or whatelse) to check and quick change your commands when the game starts? Are you seriously reccomanding SDE to change the whole command setting for all players because you are too lazy to just check something when you are not sure or your sub doesnt dive properly?
LOL

At some level it makes sense to havea different overlay for each ship type. In particular, the CV has a lot more control issues than a sub or battleship, so I can see more options. However, there are still a lot of unused keys on the keyboard that could be setup (i.e. macro) for specific functions or sequenced function.

However, since none of the hotkeys overlap or mismatch, it really is just a matter of learning all the keys and using them. I don't have any problem hopping between CV, SS, BB or FF. You just need to play 10,000 games and you'll finally figure it out.

Hey, it's so easy even Ultra Dog can do it.

But for the Sub, when I go from surface where I use the guns (U-Flak) just like any other ship with AA and HE shells, to submerged (torps, not guns). The sequence flips from Sequential (F4/F4) to Gradual; T (Torps); Z (Front Only). After surfacing, I have to revert from Gradual to Sequential (F4); R + X (both guns) and now swing them around and elevate them and flip the locker (Y) for AA or HE (depending on circumstance). A macro function would be nice.

relax. OP had a valid suggestion, just trying to discuss it here.

understandably the game already give a lot of leeway in control editing but a lot of people still depend on the fixer or have game rituals. Just trying to expand the UI and make it more user friendly.
