Hoplita
This treath will be used to prepare the NF Community on the new generation Operation System Windows 8.
Windows 8 is now in developer preview wich means developers can get a look on the new Operation System.
If you also experience any issues feel free to post them here.

Download to Windows 8 developer preview!:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516

And some docs:

Currently i'm looking if NavyField works but so far i'm not able to play the game on this release of  Windows 8.
So far we got:

Honestly after installing it a few days ago and playing a bit I do not like the design and function of the tile page
and I really dilike that lack of control over how the setup and pages are.

Closing applications is a functional mess and just try to do a simple shutdown.

I will stick with Win7

Windows 8 as it is right now is a joke. If they hope to revive PC's with this new OS they might as well give the whole computer market to apple and tablets..

Anyways that isn't that many errors. Its the same error executed at different times.

Looks like a dll file can't be read properly or the dll coding/commands are different from the old XP/Vista/7.

Windows 8 was supposedly to begin fresh with a complete new write up of all the coding and complete different layout. However, layout wise it isn't too different from the old Vista/Win 7.

Unless they plan on having a desktop/laptop version of win 8 I really don't plan on upgrading to it. As it is now. The layout supports more use and functionality of tablets.

Windows 8 is still an early development stage, and the time line to be released is still far ahead:) still every one has his one opinion about this new OS, i like the new interface however i'm sure there will be some options that are suited for everyone.

I see a pattern.

win 98 = good
win 2000 = crap
win xp = good
win vista = crap
win 7 = good

So next one should be crap.

HTML5 based coding.
C++ will probably fail on it.

I am more worried about the desktop taking the same direction as Gnome3-Unity moronity GUI-like. Development, coding problems may be ironed out but a flawed concept is almost irreversible.

I foresee black days for personal computing.

I for one am glad that not everything is good in windows.

Tons of application in Unix/Unix-like do the same job.

NF needs direct X 7 through 11 to be installed to work......

Delevoper editions tend to only portions of direct X installed.... Try installing DirectX redist and see if that helps, run in windows XP compat and admin of course. I'll try when I get home to get NF on this version of windows...

You forgot a few. Did you do that to make your good/crap table look right?

Win 95 = good
Win 98 = good
Win 2000 = fair
Win ME = eleven thousand kinds of crap
Win XP = amazing
Win Vista = fair
Win 7 = good

Designing a new O/S by using a radical departure from the kernel of the previous version is fraught with risk. The last time they did a total rewrite was Windows 95. The major departures from that were Windows ME (which they failed utterly at), Windows XP (which they succeeded wildly at), and Windows Vista, which failed not because of anything microsoft did, but because of a widespread revulsion at recoding to leave Windows XP. Windows 7 has been received better only because XP is a much older O/S now and the writing is on the wall, so developers lined up to code for it.

Windows 8 will be another radical from-scratch kernel recoding. They're trying to reinvent windows before the demise of the classic laptop/desktop in the face of the rise of tablet PC popularity. I applaud them for the effort. if the developer community sinks its teeth into it, then Windows 8 (or more likely the second release of it) will be a truly great product much like Windows 98 in it's day.

But for a game like Navy Field to do well, there are going to have to be some serious coding hours put into replatforming it. Time will tell.
