  • The mystery gunner...

On NFEU, I know a few guys who have levelled a pair of 7/12 gunners, and they use them to devastating effect (devastating for their opponents, that is). Works not just for KM, but also for IJN, MN and SN.

Any experiences here?

If there was somekind of obvious exploit, someone can say bye with a patch.

Et non, c'est pas comme ca chez NFNA.

can you expand on "devastating"? what did it have? uber spread?

I'm guessing they were just spraying high and wide with them causing a pom pom like spray efect.

The guys using them on NFEU had them EXACTLY at the acc cap (not higher, that is the point), resulting in phenomenal spread. As the difference between the acc and rel bases of a 7/12 is roughly equal to the difference between their caps, this means that you don't kill your reload by having to burn (down) your experts for staying exactly at the cap.

Yes, for me this is an exploit.

If you want to read more on that (with ropey English coming from Google translator):

@richardphat:

How is it an exploit to make the most out of your sailors through creative classing and stats? I would have to do the math and know the exact cap values to be sure but this sounds reasonable enough to me. You must keep in mind however that the sailor stats will not be identical for NFEU and NFNA. Our boosts > their boosts.

While you are right that it is OK to make the most of your sailors with classing and stats, the exploit is as follows:

Concerning high-level gunners, apparently there might be a huge difference in accuracy depending on whether you are EXACTLY at the cap (a KM guy on NFEU telling me that all guns blockshot, even the guns that aren't supposed to) or already over it. Being "over the cap" meaning here having LESS accuracy.

If that truly exists, it is an exploit of a programming fault.

My reason for posting this here is to know whether such a situation is not only "possible" on NFEU, but also on NFNA.

Why don't you spend the next few months rolling the 7/12 and leveling them up? Then you come back and report to the community. There, you have an assignment now. I'm positively intrigued and puzzled.

What a "nicely" condescending post of yours. As if I needed an "assignment". I have not yet become one of these no-lifers who "needs his NF fix", thank you very much. If you are so intrigued, be my guest and go right ahead yourself with your "assignment".

Seriously, some people and their (lack of) manners...

I got the info that I wanted from my post - nobody has a clue here about this issue. So there is no market for the neut pair of 7/12 gunners that I was looking to sell for a good price (on NFEU a pair of those fetched 14 million...).

A couple of things:

1: NFNA doesn't know for sure where the Acc cap is, I'm pretty sure the same counts for NFEU. All we have are guesses. So noone can have gunners exactly at the cap.

2. The overflow error was a thing that could happen in the past, but I don't know whether it mainly concerned pilots, or if it also concerned gunners. Anyway it should be fixed now ( though $De unfixes things too often to be 100% sure of that).

3. My 103 gunners showed no OMGWTF difference between a TA of 1.71 M ( which some suggest might be near the new acc cap) or 3 M + on the H39 guns.
Since I trim my gunnerss to the reload cap, they will never hit the 3 M TA accuracy. So I don't think the overflow error is still in existence here.
And as I think Richard said, so many UK gunners here are reload gunners now, someone was bound to have noticed it before.
