OK so Ive heard many people say KM should not be armoured what so ever but Im jst curious for now that how much deck armour is required on this Gneisenau ship to be able to make the armour effective against shells? Ive also heard people say 'bounce' shells, I guess this means to completely stop a certain calibur shell or does it mean something else?

just like richarphat said, 0 deck no more question, even you mount lot of deck till your displacement is full your gneisanau can still be sunk fast in 1-2 full salvo shots from bb5-6

0.2 deck and 0.2 bulge is all the armor you'll ever put on KM ships.
Pack that sucker full of bulge, but keep above 40 knts of Overheat. With nuclear torpedos, and the fact you're only a battlecruiser, you're better off being an AA support ship of the bigger ships with enough firepower to shake a stick at the brave fools trying to rush.

you need about 8 inches of deck before it has any vague noticeable effect. the only KM ship that is armourable is the EBB3, and even then it is just a waste of creds, because speed is everything with KM. dont do it :P

Honestly, Speed doesn't matter much anymore. Especially since everyone is in BB4+. anything less and you're taking potshots in a BB3, or just roleplaying battleship escort till BB3. If KM were to get engines with more horsepower, so that we'd have better power:weight output... then KM's shortfalls with its pathetic damage and paper durability could be compensated. my H39 only has 2 engineers, I feel a restorer is more valuable than 2 extra knts of overheat speed.

That gave me some idea of the amount of armour i need, thanks for that. Guess I'll stick to those recommendations above as I cannot afford that much credits anyway.

I respectfully disagree, when I was levelling supports, using bb4 level gunners and good engies on a KM bb2, being able to do about 50knots (with AA) means that i can pack a punch and I can not be hit easily, easily getting over 100k attack many games

his supports is better than my supports in eu(cause its my first time to play and don't know what supports to have) i got there only 1 engy :D (so i level 3 more and using 3 lvl 60s on my h39 really a fail) and my km is near h44 when i transfer here, im working on my km grind, even when at level km bb2, i can go around 40 knots and go rush in rush out blind enemy or busy enemy

With no offense, you are either failing or are trolling.
