So i joined a test mission in my H39 for some reason and there happened to be an iowa there.  We decided to test our range against eachother.
We lined up at the same line from the start and fired.  Honestly, there was no noticable difference between the gun's range.  Maybe I had a smidge more.
Not only that but I was unable to one shot the test BB's at point blank unlike him. I realize it wasn't a formal range test, but still, there was no 
difference in range.

Now I know KM has its disadvantages, its not a perfect game but lets look at a few things

KM Disadvantages
-Lowest Submergence
-Low accuracy
-Largest Hitboxes
-Lowest Damage

KM Advantages
-Range (?)
-AA Guns (I love this)
-Good OH time
-Nice Reload Speed

Now those four disadvantages are huge, noticable, dragging disadvantages.  Pairing Lowest durability with lowest damage 
alone should have been a bad idea, but then to throw in the massive hitbox and poor accuracy? thats just mean.  

However, range is a huge advantage and I can see it being able to overcome the disadvantages, but Im just not noticing the range advantage.
I mean I should atleast be able to hit an enemy ship of my tier without being hit back.  

This being said, am I just not using my range effectivly? I have heard it is a techique that takes practice.  I have seen some h44's ducking and
weaving about doing well.  I think I understand the slingshot technique, but if someone could explain it in depth that'd be great.
Even so, other nations can use the slingshot technique right back at me too.  I don't know. Is it me not maximizing my ships potential or
is it the ship?  I try to engage at max range, but it is so easy for enemy ships just to overheat towards me and fire away.  And if there are two ships?
Forget it, range has no effect at all.

WHAT CAN I DOO? Hahahaha

if someone rushes you or you have a feeling that it will rush you don't wait for it to OH sail on the opposite direction while firing at the same, if you can't out run them and they're rushing alone, counter rush by rushing toward them while firing also and when they retreat, retreat as well and rep as possible if they you are damage this is what i do in my AD and bismarck

What server do you play on?

Slight-shotting takes anywhere between few hundred hours to a thousand hours to prefect especially with current GB skill.

KM does have an range advantage, but due to the multi-tiered gameplay of GB, you can hardly notice it. If you happen to play tier capped BB rooms, that's where KM's range advantage will show.

well true, you will hardly notice the range adv in gbII, but in select mode ca/bb mode you will notice the range adv of bb1-3 of km or in a normal mode with bb tier class cap you will greatly notice the range...

i think slingshot where you move in and firing while moving out?

Actually I play on Nebraska. I have played since the missouri server, but I have been really off and on and usually just play to kill time.

Yes by slingshot I mean increasing your range by moving backward as you fire. Not sure how it works, but thats what I have been told

I guess it is just going to take practice

I believe slingshooting means you rush in and fire your front guns, then turn away and fire your rear guns. Best engage with max angle.

km's actually not that bad it just requires alot of support for not being rushed etc wich = why u see so many km ships failing in gb.... that and they dont know its playstyle and doesnt have much patience

I agree with your point of view, and your analysis of disadvantages.

The large htibox could explian with seems difficult to make a blockshot with KM ships.

I have to say that the gun placement make it hard for the KM to land shots properly.

Other than that, KM has some of the beautiful ships in game (AD, Bismarck, OP2).

ackbar.. i just read your post.. so i can say wht another player already told..

the km ships.. the h44 for example, hav max angle of 37, and monty, of 40.. it makes h44 shells hit the target faster than montana. the best way to play h44 is making a line, then going forward aim the enemy with max angle, shoot paralel to him, that is the best km accuracy, and get back... your sheels will hit him faster then his.. thats your advantage.. you ll have more time to run back

Monty has 45s. 40 is using the dual 18"s which rarely used.
