Dear player base,

Don't be alarmed; I'm not here to hand out bans for calling so-and-so a terrible CV driver. I'm also not here to announce a new Spaceship Yamato premium ship. First and foremost, I am announcing our (SDE) pledge  to listen (yes really) to our loyal player base. It's cliché by now, but you know that NF would not be around if it wasn't for the long time players.

Long time players like Splid and ljsevern who are adamant about constructively criticizing and who must be pulling their hair out wondering why we haven't helped Navy Field reach its full potential. A potential that is certainly there given the loyal following of veteran players. Veteran players like Vick11 and the members of TeamNF who volunteer a great amount of their time to help out the community in ways that should never go unnoticed.

Navy Field has been incredibly fortunate to have this strong community support. On the non-player side however, things have been admittedly lacking. I started off with a short comment about bans because that is likely what I am most known for given the number of support tickets I have responded to over the past several years (you don't want to know). Many of which have been cases where I had to act like a father splitting up two quarreling kids or spending time trying to convince someone that they shouldn't be surprised if they lose things after sharing their account.

All of that time spent on frivolous issues, which as a player suggests should have been answered with "Man up.", could have been spent gathering your thoughts on the real important issues needing to be addressed.

Which brings me back to announcing our pledge to listen, and when I say "our" I mean that as an employee of SD EnterNet. A GM in fact. One of four who assist with NFNA, and the only one based in Seattle at this time. I work closely with TNF during the day and am able to have discussions with the 3 Korean based GMs in the evening (5PM Seattle time is 10AM in Seoul). I was born in Costa Rica, so I do know Spanish but English is my predominant language. I unfortunately do not speak Korean which can be a hindrance as you can imagine.

I am letting you all know this because I would like to take on the responsibility of Community Manager as has been suggested by the player base. I would like to act as an ambassador for SDE providing opportunities for discourse on what's going on behind the scenes and what we can do to fully realize NF's potential. I have been given full access to the NF Facebook and Twitter accounts ( @olivelab and facebook.com/olivelab) and intend to make more use of them. I have gone through the discussions regarding a Community Manager position and have been coordinating with Vick11 as he has been noting your most recent concerns.

For the moment, I am making this announcement so you are all aware of our support of this. Korea is currently on weekend which makes it difficult to gain pertinent responses to the more technical concerns like "When is the new HA game mode really coming?" or similar. So, for the time-being, please be patient for those answers. I will work with Vick11 on a plan for attending to the requests thus made. I'll be in contact with the Korean GMs Sunday night and by next week should be better able to start making more frequent postings.

I'll be working on support tickets, miscellaneous cases, and premium trades over the weekend but will also be checking your responses for ideas on what we can do to provide better communication between SDE and the player base so please go ahead and let me know your thoughts.

This is certainly a step in the right direction Randy.

I look forward to seeing how things develop and am happy that we have a chance to make a difference :)

And, about "SplidField", you are too kind Randy, but I couldn't possibly accept :P

I just checked and it doesn't show for me on IE for some reason. Please check with Firefox or Chrome if you can.

This is one of the recommendations we've been seeing. The GMs will try getting in more often with their GM tags. I just hope you don't think GM stands for "Game Master" in the sense of being great at playing because I'm pretty much food...

The thoughts appreciated an all Randy, but I think I can sum up most vet players thoughts in one sentance;

Don't tell me, SHOW me...

Had too many empty promises to take that at face value.
Gotta gain my confidence back I'm afraid...

Understood. Like I said, this is just the announcement. I will be working on this with Vick and will be talking to the other GMs as soon as possible to see where we can immediately start helping.

Let me know what you'd like to see more of and I'll work on that. Whether it be a journal of the day's progress or posting pictures of what the devs have for lunch on Twitter.

well said randy.

As splid said, its DEFINITELY a step in the right direction.

Players are leaving the game out of frustration from a multitude of reasons.

a couple of things that I think should be changed:

1.) the disbandment and reformation of a new TNF, competent, fluid, and sober in the games rules that are paid employees of SDE and who do not have any interest passion or vendettas within the games playability

2.) Reform ONFs original team(if any of them are still around), and let them fix the games balance issues, while also allowing them to update the community in a fashion that is similar to WoW.

3.) updates on progress for new content given on a bi-weekly basis via a forums posts (even if minor)

4.) New HA mode('nough said)

5.) change the other game modes exp gain to the SAME as that of GB1, so it allows for variety of different game modes

6.) beef up missions and allow them to award exp for the solo player/the small fleets. The missions should be so tough, that its still feasible to play GB1/other game modes, however overcoming these tough obstacles results in massive exp awards/olives.

7.) Give a buff to a fleet who in HA chooses to attack a much larger force, that increases damage/speed/fire rate etc etc, so that smaller fleets will be encouraged to do HA.

8.) EXP FOR HA!!!!!!!!!!

9.) larger server capacity so that we can pool all of our players together

10.) nation reset given as a monthly prize for the player who excels in certain categories.

I know some of my wishlist is a little extreme, and prolly wont come to fruition, but i can dream cant i?
