I just want to share some things that have made NF more fun and less of a grind for me.

1. personal victory -- I have accepted that at least half the games I play will be a loss, and I have very little individual impact on  my side's win /loss.  Instead I  go for personal victories. Did I do more damage this time? Did I live to the end of the game?  Did I play smarter? Did I help a teammate?

2. Do any damage in GB -- If I am playing at a low level in GB, I consider it a victory if I am able to do any damage at all. I only lose if I am killed doing 0 damage to the enemy.

3. Learn how to play the ship in GB -- When you are playing Blitz, it is basically a chaotic run and gun cluster-f. In GB, you have to learn the role your ship can play in helping your side win. For example, a frigate is very valuable in GB when there are a lot of subs in the game by providing sight. Also, late in a  game a frigate can be useful as a  scout.  And  it is a lot of fun to run up on an enemy CV and shootit with  you r pellet gun, getting a timy bit of damage and irritateing the enemy.

4. Do something else when waiting for game to start -- I like to do dishes, feed the dog, empty the trash, make lunch, anyhting to get up from the computer while waiting for the game to start. Of course DO NOT do this if you are HOST.

5. Help out a noob -- There are a lot of rude players (too many, imho) who don't appreciate the need to develop new players.

Playing with a fleet on vent (esp. if youre playing with CV firends) and getting games together will help games start faster since players will enter rooms that are well filled rather than 20/0.

Rec'd.

I love helping noobs develop into strong players...Seriously no sarcasm.

Also the tip about leaving, I'm really never in very many games. Most of the time I'm watching a movie or something and distracted until the game is 30seconds or so in.

I usually get back in time to see most of our BB's getting roflwhomped N. Then I get to sling monty shells from the dark ^_^

thanks, jimbursch, you helped me see NF in a whole new light. I used to consider it "winning" if i got more than 1k attack in GB (i'm a monster GB noob; seems i'm only good in Blitz), and I survived w/o being oneshotted. Now, i realize it's a victory for me if i manage to get any attack at all, whether i be in a BB, CV, or SS.

This game just became a whole lot more fun.

@jim

Very nice post!
I like the way you see this game. I never had the time to play the game every day and for hours, because i have a job, childrens and so on.
I know that i will never become a "supa-dupa-i oneshot everyone, everytime and every fleet wants me to join" player. But i dont care! I also dont care about all those flaming and stupid comments ingame.
I like to share my knowledge and always try to answer the newbies questions as best as i can.
I really do love this game but at the end it is just a computer game. Nothing more than a hobby.
And when i see the raging and insulting comments about me or other players in the chat, i just lean back and have a smile.
Because i know that many of them (not all) have nothing more in life as their computer.
Or with other words: Generation Facebook = 31.584 Friends on Facebook, but not one in real life!

Have fun with the game and the grind comes from alone.

Cheers!
