The total RAM navyfield was using today.

Navyfield itself is 1.21 GBs...

Time to change the Minimum Specs for NF to hexacore i7 and Phenom Black Edition Processors and 2 Gigs of RAM

We need to see what the RAM usage by a 2D Sprite Engine Game world record is.

Absense
Rather odd. The game is limited -- in code -- to ONLY be able to use maximum 1 GB of memory -- anything more forces it to crash. Hence why people crash all the time -- memory leaks, or, too much memory is being taken. Make sure your pr0nz isn't playing in the background, tends to affect gameplay.

I've seen it go far past this point myself before any of the new sprites were even added. You've been around long enough to know that this will happen and shouldnt be surprised nf leaks so much memory. You've also been around long enough to know how pointless this thread is.

Yes, but at this point, over 1 gigabyte is over the top. We still have 1 more nation to add and we're already using more RAM than the two "3" games and the one that came out that's only single player and epic....

It might be time to start add another change to make to the new Game Engine. JPEG sprites instead of BMP...

You will be surprised by the number of people saying that NF using that much memory isn't a problem but it's your own pc instead....

Very bad trolling attempt or OP does not know too much about computers.

Take your pick.

The 1.21 GB usage he means for NF. TBH, unless you bought a terribly cheap computer or a computer more than 6+ years ago your comp specs should meet minimum reqs.

The only huge deal is that you need high speed internet. NF is the only game I know that requires such a consistent high speed internet connection to keep playing. The way they coded the game, there is so much redundancy. The user is constantly sending so much data back and forth that any sort of spike in your connection to the game servers will make you lose connection.

p.s. * You can't even buy a Win 7 comp now that has less than 4 GB of ram * Only way would be to purchase the older Vista that came with 2 GB and even with that it was stupid to only have 2GB since Win Aero took up roughly 1 GB and the OS took another 1GB making any big process completely max out your RAM.

We north americans get spoiled with cheap hardware. I'm not sure how other areas would be priced with transportation, taxes and tariffs added in.

I would argue that you should be running 4gig plus, on Vista or 7.
