If you are having problems uploading an avatar with the new system please try using a .gif file format instead of .jpg or .png.
We have reported this and it is being looked into.

If you go to the new slide menu under your logout button and go to the left arrow you will see a tab for your account. Uploading of avatars are found there in your personal information tab.

Try it again, usually fix the problems. I had .jpeg as well.
