The first of many.
In my grinding, I am used to not having perfected guidelines until somewhere around the BB3. I don't see why everybody should instantly know their maximum range whether they can spot their shells or not. All you have to do is land a shell at max, and if you know where max is, you're set in ANY gunship at ANY level, in perpetuity. This seems to me like a way to make lower levels far easier than they ever have been, which may be okay, but not at the expense of changing the way higher levels have been doing it for years.
If this is implemented and made optional, I will not use it, ever, period. I don't think such a handout should be given to any player. Tweaking BO's for different FCS's, different guns, and different ships has been a part of the game everybody has to deal with forever. It does not discriminate.
As I have said before, my way of setting guidelines is better than your way. And ANYBODY can say that. So this doesn't affect me alone. It affects you. Every one of you. And you know what? SDE has spoken: our way of setting guidelines is better than your way. You like how that feels?
So you'll have to tell me why I should seek that +15 BO instead of just getting an Elite Repair and dealing with not seeing the actual shells land for a few more levels. But really, what's that going to matter when I can dump on you knowing my precise maximum range anyway?
And what if I want to have a different setups for line-fighting and rushing? Nope. Screwed. Hedgehogs set at angle 14? Nope. Screwed. And what about my Kita? No lines at all, I assume?
And what of light, normal and heavy shells? If I hit the Y key to swap what I want to fire, are those lines going to auto-correct on the fly?
I don't understand why they would remove a customization feature that does not adversely affect game play or aesthetics. It's like the hip thing of the moment is to implement some suggestions that have obviously not been thought through well enough. I'd rather they ignore the Suggestions forum completely instead of implementing crap and continually overlooking truly useful (some which are very simple) ideas. Patch this sucker to the main servers and it will go in the annals as one of the ten worst patches ever (maybe top five); right up there with the removal of spaces in ship names.
I haven't grinded a dozen+ BB6's just to have every ship up my lines have severe gameplay alterations made that only I can see. I mean, while you're at it, go ahead and rename my two Nebraskas "Nebraska", my three Queen Victorias "Queen Victoria", my two Amagis "Amagi", my two Kaisers "Kaiser", my three Charlemagnes "Charlemagne", and my two Project 24's "Project 24".
