  • Starting KM SS line,what should my crew be?

the questions says it,what are the required crew with the required stats to begin for a km ss line to start a strong german wolfpack sub

if you have a KM BB then you will only need the opration crew + sonarman &planesman

 

basiclly i will tell you what crews KM SS5 needs to make it a hunting shark and you should know about the lower tiers

 

1-BO  most ss players make there BO ghost  (no sailors)

some other players get elite repair and delay the classing as BO for very late level

and then make that sailor a BO with out making him a ghost cos that will give them good repair

2- two  tropedo crews (torpedo stat 12 if possible if not 11 will do)

3 planesman  15 POT if possible if not try 14 (if you have olives buy Elite Potential Sailor)

4- sonarman / if you plan to be other SS players nightmare i suggest Elite Potential Sailor then Premium Sailor

if you just wanna have fun  15 or 14 POT will do it

5-two engenires with 12 engine stat

6- repairman with 12 repair stat

 

 

all of the above stat are good but you will need to BVE your crew to have the best out put from them

Actually a BO doesn't lose any support stats so an elite repair classed as BO right away is actually better because classing increases crew growth.

Actually a BO doesn't lose any support stats so an elite repair classed as BO right away is actually better because classing increases crew growth.

 

you are 100% correct BO don't lose any stat only gain 2 POT

my mistake i didn't clarfiy what i mean

*by delaying  you can put that sailor on support slot of any ship

and level him faster than classing him as SS BO since SS exp sucks

thanks for your concern i made alot of mistakes while grinding my KMSS5

and always had to start over gain to fix these mistakes

so this is what every one should do

 

PS: KM SS4 gunners are useless in my opinion

why ? cos

1. no good sub driver is willing to surface and pom pom a ship

while he can put a torpedo in it ,

2. using these pom pom means revealing your postion

and alerting every enemy ship

3.your sight /gun range is limited so when you think that there is nothing guarding

a cv and try to surface to kill it you will probably open the hell doors on your self

4.- KM SS 4 have 8 slots

1-BO

2- tropers

1- sonar

1-planes

1-repair(on gun slot)

2-enginers(one on gun slot)

as you can see no place for gunners

 

of course you will say why would i put enginer on gun slot which means it won't help in OH

well becuase in SS5 if you don't have 2 enginers you will be food

that BEAST is somehow slow and need 2 enginers

Clearly you have never surfaced on top of an unarmed CV and flakked it to death. Also it saves torpedos. Have fun running out of "trops" after killing 2 BBs :\

and do you have SS5 yet ??

There are other ways of taking down an SS besides tanking hits, maybe you prefer reps in your gun slots, I don't. And no I don't have an SS5, what does that have to do with anything? I think my stats are decent for my SS4 and BO lvl, I don't really care for comparing kill counts but here's mine:

in SS 5 you will need 2 enginers cos it is  somehow a slow beast

so my suggestion is get of the gunners and put repairman and 1 extra enginer you will need it in SS5

What you want during progression is prettty straightforward until SS4.

BO, Sonar, Planesman, Engr, Torpedomen.


But you definitely want to use the U-Flak guns.  They are totally awesome.  You'll need a pair of L77 gunners when you get to that stage.  Those who disparage those guns have absolutely no experience with them.  I've ripped many a squadron of T4s and Bombers out of the sky, keep pesky ASW at length, and polish off that smoking CV without wasting another torp. 

As for SS5,  you have 5 support + 1 gunner (that is essentially a useless spot everyone puts a support person on).  I run my Sonar and Planesman + 3 Chief Engineers + a Seaman on the gunner slot.  I pull 900 SD without a repairman and I know my Seaman is helping my other crewmembers in their special services that a repairman can't and my existing repairman is too low a level, lousy and ineffective.

So you can put any number of support + Sonar and Planesmen in those slots.  I prefer 3 Engineers + 1 Seaman.

just a little correction ultra gunners level is 74 not 77

and unless you have KM BB don't waste your time classing gunners for KM SS4

classing gunners to use them from level 74 to level 94 only is waste of time
