  • SDE Q&A Responses 3

TeamNF_MK2

Hey guys,

I thought I heard some pitchforks being sharpened so I did a special rain dance to the SDE gods and managed to come up with another round of official SDE responses to a few of your recent concerns. I apologize for the delay.

As before, I'll go ahead and leave this open for adding more questions or expanding the answers as necessary. Please let me know if I've missed any big issues. Also, please remember to check our Facebook page for another way to submit your questions, concerns or ideas.

-Randy aka MK2

Issue 1: Could we consider  small scale "nation branches" , for example, Australia or Canada branch off of UK with slightly altered current ships. Aussie CA1(HMAS Canberra) is just the County but without 2 T-slots and much faster reloading for example. -Hasley

Response: This is a very good idea that we would like to see completed as we would wish to have those new ship trees. However, due to our lack of developers, we can't  say if we can do this at this time. If anyone has more information about the sorts of ships or lines that could be considered, please send us that information for consideration.

Issue 2: Any plan to include the last play time on the Hall of Fame screen or to the fleet leader for assisting with fleet management?

Response: We've already passed this along to our web team and should have it available soon.

Issue 3: Random crashes and freezes since Italy was released.

Response: These issues are unfortunately best dealt with on a case-by-case basis as the conditions through various configurations may vary greatly. As a general tip, Windows 7 users may try running the Navyfield.exe file in "Windows 98/ME" compatibility mode with visual themes and desktop composition disabled from within the properties menu. As has been noted before, we strongly advise running with at least 4GB of physical RAM as NF sprite and weapon info makes heavy use of available memory.

 _______________________________________________________________________

Issue 4: Why not have fleet leader elected moderators? Each fleet would elect a candidate to be voted on by the public.

Response: This process would be welcomed if issues of potential bias could be avoided.

Issue 5: Why is game development and testing not completely handled internally?

Response: Development could be handled in this manner; however, in order to provide changes tailored specifically to the NFNA player base it has proved beneficial to involve player test input. All of the current Navy Field versions are different and what we'd like i

9. nelly gets a auto penalty..or is it now going to get a 2 plane slot?

11. Really, "SDE dons't have a big dev team"..we have heard that ed nasium. So nothing changes left hand..right hand. Hey look no hands

Wow issue 3. Obviously it is something that has happened in the patch making us crash. Anyone that plays the game more then 5 mins realizes there are more crashes. It isn't our PC's when it worked fine before patch day.

i love # 3

lets blame it on the player base instead of admitting thats its our isp and other issues related to sde. Dont give us bs answers please mk2 it makes u look uneducated.

If my pc was running fine before italy its not me. And my pc can play top of the line games on high definitions settings yes a 4000+ dollar pc is more than enough to play nf.

Please fix the issues and do ur job or continue to lose more customers and money your choice

And maybe hire some people like mfischer who know what the heck they are talking about instead of the "coders /devs/ cutomer support" that u currently have which stinks and u know it

In all honesty, you are the ONLY person I see day in and day out who CONSTANTLY complains about the lag.

Are you positive it's not something on your end? Did you check your TSU-304 connector pins onboard your RD-D2958 board? I'm positive that is it.

Check your setup first? I have not lagged at all since the 2010 Christmas Event.

Who speak korean and write in hangul among the current GMs.

Because SDE keeps tossing things uneeded on the test servers. Further, when it comes to requesting change values, they are likely refusing some of the major change in order to balance Italy.

At least, we need someone that can translate so the developpers do understand what we want.

Will SDE be hiring more Dev's and GM's?

Will SDE prioritise fixing existing features and content over new content?

Will SDE sort out whoever has been doing the sprites in recent years, because not only have they been blatent copy pastes, but most of them have been far too small in size.

Will we ever get better resolution support and/or Windowed mode?

Will the coding team work on reducing the file size for sprites, thus reducing the RAM needed for the game?

Thank you Randy, many of us appreciate this. Hopefully the rest understand that this Q&A was done only for the convenience of the players.

3: I can say what we're all thinking, George Costanza was the one to come up with "it's not you it's me", but we're impressed by the enthusiasm.  Aside from limited RAM causing lag, it's like if every car every built exploded, and then you said "oh you're just not driving it properly". This game crashes, sometimes it's because of the computer we use, mostly it's because of some random bug (I've honestly given up playing Italy because when playing their ships I crash insanely more frequently, to say nothing of it being as balanced as a meatball on a toothpick). We get it, now let's move on.

4:SDE does not prefer to make things that could easily be exploited. When it happens it's quashed. I agree with this point. Same with 8.

5: The costs for having new devs, GMs, HR, etc for each branch of NF would increase costs dramatically, so if everyone would like to have to pay $20+ a month to play just for faster developments, go ahead and raise your hands.

9: mfischer if you think it's impossible for them to include exceptions for the Nelson...
Overall not bad.

10: I, likely like many people, made a suggestion for this as well. Though mine was focused for the current state of CVs.

12: I think I love you. Very, very excited for this finally.
