  • change ship order bug

Hi,

I really like the idea of changing the order of ships im my harbour - an excellent feature addition for NF! :)

But there seems to be a bug.

I've chnaged my ship positions a few times, and normally it works fine. But sometimes it doesn't... here's what I've found:

If I change the order of my ships, it's fine.

If I exit NF and rejoin, it's still fine.

If I rejoin and access my HQ to have a look, it's still fine.

If I move a ship in or our of my HQ, the next time I start NF my ships will be back to where they were before I changed the order.

It's a minor point, but totally negates teh idea of adding the change ship order feature. :)

Noticed that if you change the ship order in say, home computer, it won't change the order in a kitchen computer, for example.

I've heard of "Chef Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares", but "Mai's TB Whoring Kitchen Nightmares" is a nightmare I can do without... :P

The ships revert back to their original positions if you change servers also.

Mine seems to reset after I crash. Kinda sad I almost got the routine memorized on how to re-arrange my ships to my linking.

I noticed this file in Documents/NavyFIELD folder.

Odd, I haven't seen this before. Could this be related to the ship switch?

Yes. It seems to be.

If the folder is empty, a file appears after you move ships around in your harbour.

If you delete (or rename) the file, it will revert to the default.

EDIT: My previous observations about this featur being bugged after moving things in and/or out of the harbour seems to have been fixed in the last patch.

should i make a folder of navyfield in my documents folder?

I don't think that will help. The program creates teh folder if it is not already there.

I suggest trying to fix the problem you're having with no buttons. Probably a reinstall is in order :(

OK, I think I've found a work-around for this problem.

Moving things in and out of the HQ seems to be what breaks it. So if I move anything into or out of my HQ, before I exit the game I just swap the position of a ship in my harbour and swap it back. Seems to work.

On a side note, I tried making the ._lst file read only to see if that stopped it reverting back after restarting NF, but then when I tried rearranging my ships, NF hung (had to end the process)... It doesn't surprise me too much that SDE's devs can't/don't even do basic stuff like check a file is open and writable before trying to write to it. Obviously the program writes the ship order to the file when you rearange your ships, but when you use your HQ this gets broken. I to fix it I guess they just need to make sure the file is rewritten when you exit your HQ.
