I also have this issue after i had to fresh re-install NF, no idea why the italian ships are not in the latest full version but seems it is just another oops. 

Best i can suggest is jump into a room, if you get the message play the battle or jump out log off and close nf, restart it so it can DL the missing or broken sprite and relaunch NF.  That is what i have been doing anyway, it's a pain but it's how it has been done before.

The fastest way to fix is to download a full version of 1.340 and reinstall and that will get all the sprite files loaded.

The Full and patch version when first released did not have the Italian and ECV sprites included. That is what is causing the issue
