Looks like Summer is almost here and with that, we should touch base on the status of our ongoing projects. I have a few notices for the future as well as our official response to a few random concerns. Without further ado;
Q1. Can you explain the process for updating the test server and why it takes time?
A. The process of the test server is as follows:
1. Discuss what we should test
2. The game design team begins to roughly input the numbers/changes
3. The game program team begins work on the patch files
4. The server programmer patches the test server
5. GMs test that all the functions are working
6. Testers test the details
7. Discussion takes place and a request for the patch is issued
8. Start with number 1 again
Q2. Update on the new Harbor Assault game mode for all players
A. If all of the necessary work continues to be completed on schedule, we should expect to see the new harbors in June. It won't be patched later than July.
Q3. Update on the patch for windows 7
A. Currently undergoing testing by GMs. We have run into a lot of graphic and interface bugs, so programmers are working to fix the major problems. After the programmers have resolved all the reported problems, changes will be patched to the test server first to allow all players a chance to test. This has taken a bit of time because the programmers have almost built the client engine from scratch.
Q4. Update on random crash complaints
A. We truly expect to fix most if not all random errors once we finish the Win7 patch. Also, we are checking our server condition very often, so crash instances should be reduced. As before, we strongly recemmend that players free up available system memory prior to running NF as low memory may often have an impact on performance.
Q5. Update on wider range of game modes other than GB
A. Currently there are a few new game modes under careful consideration. Once more comes of this we will provide a tangible time frame and update.
Q6. Select mode rooms to have same % exp as GB
A. Currently being worked on. May be patched in the near future.
Q7.Has a decision been made regarding the HA Smoke Poll?
A. The poll result was pretty even with numerous talks of possible alternate solutions. As such, we will postpone this issue for the future in order to allow more discussion on a better compromise or solution.
Q8. Would we ever consider to have a language filter that can be set on or off?
A. We do not plan to make such an option available.
Q9. Premium Trade System progress update
A. Several concepts for new versions of the past Premium Trade System have been undergoing consideration. Unfortunately, because of the amount of issues the previous system faced, the new concept will need to be thoroughly tested. GMs will be testing the proposals for potential exploits and improved efficiency among other things. The testing may push the release back from the original before Summer schedule, but it will be for the best as it will make the system better for everyone. Once a more concrete ETA is available I will have it posted.
Random notes:
There will be a Summer event launching soon on both servers. Please look for a new NF newsletter being sent out soon or check the site for details possibly later this week.
An official fleet war is also in the works following the event. Please also expect a number of technical changes which we will announce when ready.
