  • Lag while playing NF

I'm experiencing lag during gameplay and I am not sure why. I play many other online games (starcraft 2, bad company 2, World of Warcraft, R.U.S.E.) and out of all of them, this is the only game I experience lag, which I find odd. I have a DSL internet connection that varies in speed depending on the time of day. Peak hours I get 2 Mbps - 5 Mbps and at night I get the full 10 Mbps I pay for. My upload speed is capped by my ISP to 0.75 Mbps. I originally thought I could have had a FPS (Frames Per Second) issue but I've ruled that possibilty out completely as I've been informed that NF caps it's frames at 25 fps and my computers specs are way beyond NF's minimum requirements.

I would sincerely appreciate any and all input/suggestions/advice on the matter. I've already tried a lot of different things but if they were suggested to me again here, I'd glady try them again. I suppose I am THAT desperate, lol.

I enjoy playing NavyField A LOT and the lag I am experiencing is extremely hindering during gameplay. I'd love nothing more than to completely obliterate the lag I experience.



Some notes:

- In the past I've played NF from this same location, this same ISP, and this same computer without lag
- Differences between then and now are: New graphics card, processor)

Computer specs/Settings:

PC
Windows Vista x64 bit - Home Premium - Service Pack 2
Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU X9650 3.00 GHz
4.00 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 SE
Clean install to C: program files (x86)/SD Enternet
ALL drivers are up to date
Port Forwarding for NF: Yes

Connection:

DSL (all that is available in my area)
9.98 Mpbs Download / 9977 kbps (1247.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
0.75 Mpbs Upload / 754 kbps (94.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Well I dont think its the PC but the connection to the server is spotty at best.

Hops 4-10 are seeing consistent P/L and hop 14 is looking to be having issues
Going to run mine and see if the router at your hop 14 is still as bad for me

Thanks for your reply. Do you think all the P/L loss would be what is causing my lag?

There must be a reason my connection to the NF server is spotty. Any ideas why?

He checked my Ping test results also Pooch... found nothing wrong... Now we have another yahoo suggesting it's our ISP... Sooo many cooks in the kitchen, yet i still get freezing/lagg during this game... This is the ONLY game I have downloaded Period !! Guess i'm just gonna quit playing... What's the use to keep playing a game that I can't actually play without freezing during the game ?? And like you Pooch... I played another game "Seafight" that is a browser downloaded game also... played it for 4 1/2 years... NEVER a single game of lagg and it's an international game as well.... I still say it's an internal server issue but NF will continue to give us suggestions...... BBR i commend you on trying to help..... But at this point I'm probably gonna just quit the game.

First off I am not a "yahoo" and I dont use "yahoo" and I have never drank "yahoo" so where you get the
Idea I am a "yahoo" is beyond me.
Second nowhere did I blame the ISP, I said the connection was spotty at best and 2-5 % PL could result
in some Lag since its all the way to the server.

As you look at my test you would think I am having no issues but in reality I am having alot of stutter and
lag in game and still working with my ISP to get it fixed. I know its not the game its my problem.
