i am a new player lvling my first line (ijn BB).

i was glad i finaly got my first BB, but now i am lvl 61 in GB, i notice that i connot participate in the battle at all.

the only thing i can do is give some light with my scouts, who get shot down real easy.

when i see all those big ships is think that it wil take me till lvl 89 (yamato) before i can be of any use......hope i am wrong about that.

my 6 tiny AA guns hit almost nothing and the spread and range of the 12.2 inch guns are realy bad compared  to the other ships i see.

is there any way i can make myself usefull in GB???

Yess there is a way, it's called leveling.

BB1 and BB2 are hard grinds. Normally don't see shells landing, having little range, having huge spread. This is the same with all nations BB1 and most BB2.

Little hope for you:
1. BB2 Ise/Fuso have lots of guns and therefor many shells that helps a bit against bad spread. Doing damage gets a little better but range is still a big problem. Downside is that AA slots on BB2+3 are only 2 per side which is useless for AAing. In fact you shouldn't have classed your gunners to AA gunners before level 89. Read posts in IJN forums sections about DP gunners.
2.BB3 Nagato is already quite descent. Range is still to short for proper line fighting but it's quite fast  with at level crew. Spread is still weired (sometimes good, sometimes not). You can do some hit and run with that.
3. Yamato itself has range (with L version guns) but will be slow at the beginning and a big target. Not an easy ship with at level crew but will become better every level. Great AA at least.

thanks for the response.

i use DP gunners instead of AA because i read they where better at aiming.

so there wil be a lot of games before i can actualy fight, hope i got the patients for it.

ijn aa is pretty good so use that. another thing you can do is get a pca and go sub hunting (with Hedge hogs).

With BB1-2 you can:

Do AA duties
Engage enemy DD7CL that are chasing your team SS
Scout
Chase SS with HH

If battle goes well for your team also can try to attack high tiers BBs.

We are talkiung about BB1, 2, 3.

While BB1 has some kind of useable 3 t-slots the IJN BB2 and 3 have only 2. That is not really what I would call pretty good AA especially with on time classed AA gunners like he did.

Sorry for confusing you. I mean those IJN DP gunners when talking of AA. There was supposed to be a special gunner for Auto AA which is no deleted from the game. So only DP gunners are left for using AA guns.

The problem with IJN (UK and US) DP gunners is: When you class them first time to DP gunners at level 20 they get a penalty in accuracy and reload growth. So if you want to reach reload cap (fastest possible reload) you need to boost them, overvet them (mor than 109 vets), full experts and still will reach this very late at probably level 120.
Doing good AA gunners for those nations means that you should delay classing them (probably until level 89 for BB4) gaining additional relaod during those levels and then reach the cap earlier with putting less money in them.
Read the threads about DP gunners in IJN subforum for more information.

I'd recommend reading the IJN guides on crew setups etc. Learn what BVEing your crew is and the best way of leveling the crew.
