  • Gunner with Rep stat is better?

    06. 04. 2012 00:19

Just few days ago i rolled gunners with stats 10/11/11 - accu/rel/rep. And reviewing few posts regarding repair cap for KM nation is very hard to reach even with 3 elite reps plus 12/10 Engys (engy/rep).

My question is:

1. How significant is it having a stat in rep for main gunners?

2. Will it be the same also with AA gunners having rep stat?

3. Is 10/11 gunner decent?

I need help on this.

No it will not help you unless you delay them.

Every little bit helps.    9 = 0 increase.  Anything 10 or more is  a + at all levels.

That's true.

But because answer to question 3 of TO is "no"  he should definatly not look at rep stat with priority for gunners. Not sure about KM gunners, but I guess elites accuracy, 12acc/10rel or at least 11/11 would be what I call "decent".
And dely classing gunners seems only to be adviseable when beeing ready to invest 50 bucks each for boosting and overvetting. Especially when they are 10/11.

And looking for engis with good side stat for rep and rest will be a lot more efficient cause everything from +8 on will help and rep/rest growth penaltys are given a lot higher levels than for gunners.

repair(!) growth for gunners when classing at level:
1. level 12 armed sailor => -7
2. level 21 gunner => -2
(no further rep penalties on classings)

repair(!) growth for engis when classing at level
1. 12 support sailor => +8 (!)
2. 29 2nd engi => -7
3. 44 1st enig => -5
4. 71 Chief engi => -4
You see alot of more levels where you gain repair (and restore) ability at supporters.

AA gunners don't need to be classed beyond AA gunner.   Beyond the basic gunner stats of 11/11, 10/12 or 12/10 (and better), I always look at repair.  KM gets both a RLD and ACC bonus so a 10/11 not the end of world.

With mediocre stat sailor you will likely suffer at lower levels but at higher levels, you will likely appreciate the extra that repair etc may provide.

Pick your poison.

Protip: Even 9/9 gunners and standard BVE will cap relativly early with KM. The ONLY benefit to getting elite gunners for KM main gunners is to cap early in blitz where KM spread is most frustrating. If you are looking ahead then you will deal with it and use your range to make spread a non issue.

My 10/10 km gunners were just the same as elites of the same level after maybe the mid 70s.

And as for AA gunners if you want a good spread later listen to mako. Even on H44 my 100 vet level 116 aa gunners have garbage spread. However some people like that some people dont.

Also KM rep rate is crap because of having chief engineers that will have low repair ability so every little bit of repair ability on other sailors helps. If you are really worried about it you can consider doing something along these lines with your scout even:

I noticed that for gunners (high level) the rep ability is so little, around 300-400 displayed ability only, is it worth it?

Good info right there regarding scouts. I never thought of unclassing scout to enhance it's rep ability. But when you delay classing of sailors you have to invest more $$$ for vetting right?

Repair is taken from all sailors.  Anything you can add to the total is a bonus.  V2 sums it up well - it's KM, you get gunner stat bonuses so why not look a little bit more at the repair?  In the end it's up to you. Majority of the players will only look at the gunner stat though.

Or you can use event items and AA like me. :D really though you dont have to take it as far as I did. And for a more well rounded scout (both air and repair stats) you can leave it as special forces or class it around 75-80ish. The beauty of scouts is that theres no difference in crew size to worry about like if you were to delay class suports.

You can use NF calculator to figure things out or if you are a math nut you can do things yourself with the true ability formula which should be in that post I linked you to.

For referance this is all the repair skill a +11 repair/+12 Air will get you if you properly class it.

Thanks for all your help sirs. Just last one question tho, does engy stat of Repairers help in OH or only restore stat works?

Engine stat only works on Engineers.  Repair and Restore work on All sailors.  So ignore the people who advertise repair sailors with engineer stats - it does nothing.  After all this time people still haven't figured it out even when it would only take a couple of minutes to test.
