  • How many vets required to have near block shot on SN BB4 and above?

Has anyone done any experiments or testing?

Spread on my elite boosted and 100 vet lvl 110 gunners have really inconsistent spread. Usually I can only get 1 or 2 out of 9 shells to hit on Yamato sized BB in every shot. This is making me very frustrated.

Appreciate if anybody could share some tips or their experience.

You didn't understand any of this "cap" thing, did you? (that you keep talking about puttiing more vets on your gunners)

The bad spread is not a "design flaw", it's design (balance with range, speed, etc.)

I have 11/11 SN gunners and I was shooting blocks by 110. Assuming you have experts, which you should...

SN can have amazing spread. Please don't say SN has terrible spread when you don't seem to know how accuracy caps and vets even work.  Seriously, if you have EBVE gunners at 110, it is impossible to have that bad of a spread without having your ship set up wrong. If you're using the 110 guns that will be part of the reason why you aren't shooting tight shots. Use the lvl100s and the right manual FCS and you can't possibly be having a problems at that point. At least not to the scope of "1-2 shells land on a BB" per shot...

hostly, I do not know how your gunners get to shoot near block shots at lvl 110. My gunners are EVBE, I use both SN BB5 and SN BB4, none of the guns I used could give me near block spread, be it lvl91 16*3, lvl100 16*3 or lvl110 16*4. And I have nearly 10 years of Navyfield experience to know how to setup my ship with the right FCS and right crew.

It just feels odd as similar or even worse gunners I had were able to give me much better gun spread on UK and US ships that I used to play before. I guess this is just part of the reason why SN is the least played nation on the live servers today.

seriously 10 years????? pffff this game is like 7 years old.....its released in 2005-06 ....not 10 years..learn your history...

This game is released 2005-2006 in North America... Dude, this game was released in Korea in 2002, Japan, Hong Kong, China and Japan in 2003. So yes, it is a 10 year old game...

Learn to find the facts before you speak, kid...

If you've somehow been playing this game over multiple languages, for longer than it has even existed to almost every other member of the player base in NFNA, you should be aware of how SN plays just by sheer magnanimity of your experience. Their lack of play certainly doesn't come from their inability to hit things... You should also know that the 110s are the last thing you're ever going to shoot a block with.

You should also know somewhat what they're capable of from SN ships you've seen fire. I'm sure you've watched one play at least once in game now...

Also, something has to be wrong if you're hitting a BB4/5 sized target with less than 1/3 of your shells... That's just an inane hyperbole.

megabstr

lol....10 years and still getting elite/overvetted gunners......

at lvl 110, normal bve'd 9/9 gunners will perform just as well as yours....

+1

10 years experience =/= 10 years of learning, apparently...

I'll do something unussual here: i will answer your question! =)

True Ability = ['%'] . [displayed ab] . [max total sailors]

(in order of importance)

Now for Accuracy ability, for a elite 100 lvl (you mean reload one? accuracy is not a valid option...), premium sailor ('boosted') with 109 vets+719 experts+0 rookies

TA (acc) = [139%] . [~2890] . [828] = ~3.338.874

acc cap is far below that

GrieferLord

Soviet ships have the same issue as a few others including IJN, the spread can be really good or be bad at times, it is just how the gunners are, the ships are still extremely good and the stalingrad is currently the best bb4 with more range than most bb4's so it can be quite devistating.

Having lots of vets like most everyone else said will not equal better spread at higher level your crew gaining more levels can help with the spread being that way but it takes time.

Stiks

here is something to try (feel lucky i am sharing this here in the public forums, i keep a lot to myself) try swapping your rear and front gunner. if the front gunners acc stat is lower (even if over cap overall) then it can almost bug your spread to crap when it should be good.  can't hurt to try. or you could just be cursed with bad spread eternally.

at 110 acc should easily be capped with reg vetting and experts. though like most have said you wont be block shotting  but should at least be getting 1/2 your shells to land on a decent BB

Haha...craziness in this thread.

First off, you don't know "bad" spread until you've played an H39  or an original pre-buff Richelieu with at lvl gunners .. The H39 loves to shoot 2 rows of shells that do 34k damage in a "block" that will never happen.. meaning you'll get 14k or so per broad side on almost ANY target, large or small, most of the time.

The stalingrad has amazing spread, I've tested it on the test server with the available delay classed gunners with 267 vets  NON boosted and it gives one of the most beautiful in a row shots I've seen of any BB4 -- repeatedly. The iowa and Yamato don't even come close... maybe the Lion I.

I have soviet lvl 77 Elite reloaders with 120 vets each (I traded for them, otherwise they would be 109 each like i usually do) and cant wait to blockshot ppl later on!

As the poster above eluded to, sometimes your gunners are so far over the 100% accuracy cap and NF says, "thanks for wasting so much money on über-vetting your gunners. Your reward is a junk spread! Ha ha!"

All my BB6 gunners I've burnt experts down and adjusted rookies to achieve either 100.00% of the reload cap, or 99.99% of the reload cap. So far,  it's either my imagination, but the spread almost always improves when firing from a standstill at max angle. Obviously things change when you are overheating, turning, moving or have your gun guidelines "stretched" away from the ship at an exaggerated angle.  The benefit to doing this means lightened gunners (more bulge, deck, speed, fits on DD easier, etc)

For your 2nd high level crew, try a KM ship ... lol
