I can see both sides of the argument when it comes to Hobbit map.  It's easy to get into for new players and makes torping easy.  Unfortunately it eliminates a lot of skill and makes the learning curve that much steeper for players when they hit GB.  It mostly creates bad habits.  But this is a game and since people enjoy it, removing it is not a solution.  Perhaps we could look at reducing XP on hobbit maps.  If people want to play it that's fine ~ just give less reward for mindless torping and AWing.
