I am pretty sure we all voted yes for this six months ago.

Where is it?

After reconfirming how this would work in-game, our developers reported back that it would be a bit more difficult to implement than originally imagined.

At the moment I believe work on this has been paused until our devs are able to determine the best way in which to implement it as players envision. I will update if there is any new info regarding this.

No offense, but having some lines change from green to red when a ship crosses you, doesn't seem like it would be that hard to code in... 2012 and devs from SDE are having trouble make colors change when ships defy the laws of physics

I'm very concerned about that suggestion cause I made it and it blew up with reccs fast.
tho' you se that I god in my ticket. I don't remember if it was norm who said that he will sent them propositions of script to check that and change colour.

This biggest issue here is that this is something we were told was being done, it has been canceled, fine. But why have we not been told about it, again it comes down to the failure of the community manager to inform us of anything actually happening. It would be good to confirm that all the deadlines we were given have been missed rather than just missing them.

as much as i would like to see this added, i think there would be lag increased.

with all the battlerooms and all the crossing of ships, the server would have to take into effect of the 2 hitboxes crossing and when they stop crossing and exec the proper codes of when the X and when they dont.

Only one answer is valid:

A HUGE YES !!!!

Personally I don´t  think that this will be implemented.
I hope to be wrong.

Being a .Net Developer myself. I can understand the server side load issue. So why not make it client side? Wouldnt be server resource intensive then. If the client engine pics up the cross its simply changes the crosshairs.. No need to place such trivial code on the server side when in the end it could simply be coded up on the client side..

How is this possible? They own the source code or else they wouldnt be able to make any changes whatsoever.

I have been in the software business for years and would love to lend my services to SDE if they would let me...for free even. I love this game a lot. It has been a staple for years.

Just because the previous programmer wrote the code doesn't mean someone else cant read/modify it ( It would just take much longer). I honestly have no idea what could be holding them up.

Exactly... There is no such thing as they don't have the source code. You can't write updates for something that you have no idea what functions are doing what in or what vars to pass where. Having the project files is all they need, while the original developer may not have greatly commented his code as he went its not hard to follow code from one EventHandler to the next..

How will the server taking into account that 2 hitboxes are crossing and then changing the color of guidelines for usually only 2 players cause lag? Maybe if you have exactly the bare minimum amount of RAM that the game uses up, then I can see a line changing from green to red lagging you.
