  • 10 tips for BB players in GB (from CV player point of view)

Hi all...

its well known that in BG many BB players tend to blame CV for loosing the battle, and sometimes its true, but its also true that in many battles CV have to deal with enemy ftrs, bombers and blinding enemy issues that can affect the chance of a "nice" scouting task... so i will put 10 easy tips for BBs that can make the hole team win.

1) load and launch your scout

this is quite important, i know most BBs need to rotate their sailors in order to lvl up supports at even lvl, but my advice is to keep your scout aboard, that way you will allways have a chance to scout yourself, and your scout will reach 120 faster than any other sailor. Once you have loaded it... GET IT READY EVERYTIME, its not for use just at the start of the battle, you should load a new scout back as soon as your Scout gets killed (or gets back) to be ready to go... this way you can launch it whenever you need it (even better if you keep launching them).

CV player Point of view: many times friendly BBs ask for scouting while you are killing bomber waves or doing something as important, and there are no fighters above your BB's, so they should take their scouts and provide vision for themselves, to leave you do your job killing enemy planes or camping (owning) enemy CV's

-

2) place smartly and micromanage your scout:

Many BB players just launch their scout, leave it at max altitude and send him above enemy line, and thats the worst way to manage a scout EVER. Try to send him at low altitude, and leave him between your line and your enemy line, this way if an AA ship tries to kill him, it will enter your guns range. Another thing to consider is to leave them near the border (not in the border as that's ilegal) or near the middle, in areas where fighters are not so common).

CV player P.o.V.: many BBs, in order to focus in battle do the less micromng to their scouts as possible, and you as CV notice that when enemy scouts are in straigth line to your fp route into enemy line at max altitude. Many times if a scout its far away, and when you come after him starts to move away from your ftrs you can't afford to chase it (you need to kill enemy fighters, bombers and scout the enemy) and you have to leave the task to AA ships.

-

3) Kill AA ships:

AA ships many times enter BB range in order to chase a friendly airplane, this is an unique moment when you as BB can do a great good to your team. Killing that ships (it wouldn't take more than 1 or 2 shots) will make the scouting task quite easyer, not just for your cv but for you and your entire team aswell. If you don't get to kill him by leaving in orange or red the AA ship will loose his speed so its going to be harder for him to chase fighters.

CV player P.o.V.: enemy AA ships (if they are pro and use fixer) can be a real pain in the ass, making you loose your fighters or retreating them from enemy BB line... sometimes the scouting failure respond not to enemy cvs but to enemy AA ships, and its quite anoying to see how AA ship may enter BB range and move back to safety without getting pwned.

-

4) if you have the chance use your AA

like when talking about scouts... many times rotating sailors involve not to leave your AA gunners above ship. also secondary gunners make your ship go slower. But when you can do it (and when nation allows, like KM MN or IJN) plese use your AA, this will give your team a great advantage, killing enemy scouts and fighters will make enemy team to be blind, and your cv will only be worried about scouting and eventually bombing.

CV player P.o.V.: when enemy BB have AA and they are good at it they can be a real problem for us to scout, on the other hand when we have ally BB with AA we can relly some aspects of the blinding task on them, this way you will be free to dominate the skyes over the enemy BB line.

-

5) form a line before rushing

Many BBs nowadays tend to rush at the very first start of the battle, this is a nice way to get urself killed and make your team loose. also sometimes 8 out of 10 bbs go just to north or south, leaving 1 flank almost "free to rush" for enemy team.

CV player P.o.V.: many battles i have saw how my team (or enemy team) get 6-10 or 5-10 in the first 2 minutes of the battle... in this time there is no way you can load a full pack of ftrs to go engage your enemy... this makes us as good as a dummy ship for  the entire battle, as when we can start sending fighters the battle already has a winner. This is the most common "NOOB BB" issue in the entire game

-

6) know when to rush

When in battle our team reach the point of "final rush", sometimes BBs in order to "reach first the enemy and get more damage" keep rushing even if they are blind, and many battles are lost due to this. Even worst, many times at that point most BB's won't launch their scouts, making it a critical problem.

CV player P.o.V.: when battle starts to decide in our team's favor, many times CV is left behind and the enemy its far away for scout, besides we also want our share of damage and might load a pack of DB or TB. even in that case good CV players try to put some Ftrs above enemy's lats BB, but its quite common to be blinded spaces between packs of "scouting fighters" so manage your own scouts or wait for us to bring light back. We are not blind and and we notice that our team needs light, and we'll provide light back, just hold a few seconds, or ask how much time do your team's CV need to bring light back

-

7) Protect your fellow CV at the final stages of battle

Once our teams win a "side" (north or south) it could happen that enemy team wins the other side, in that case most BB go for a rush to kill enemy CV, but leaving behind friendly CV's (as we can't really rush for much time). BB should protect CV, because if you do it you will end up with the decisive advantage over enemy team.

CV player P.o.V.: its not good to be left behind just to be food of enemy BB, specially if you have scouted for your team the entire battle. in some battles for example a single CL or CA can pass our BB line, and CV is left alone to face it. in te long run this its only bad for BB as we will protect ourself and stop doing anything but loading TB/DB to kill our threat

-

8) Dont Blame US for fail balance

CV balance in NF is quite bad, as the game balance CV based on tiers (CV6 > PCV > CV5 > CV4 > ECV > CV3 > CV2 > CV1) and many times tier does not have a concordant match with fighters above ship (there are lots of CV4 or ECV with 110+ fp loading T3 ftrs) so blaming a CV4 for getting owned (for example at north) its quite a basic way to see it. It's as foolish as blaming a BB2 for getting owned by a BB5.

CV player P.o.V.: when ur frts gets eaten by a high tier enemy ftr we try to at least scout, we really do... also we try to drag their ftrs from our BB line, but sometimes its just impossible as our fighters are no-match for the enemy. So don't blame us, just try to see the best way to assist (using AA and scouts) so that whe can at least try to scout/protect something.

-

9) give the word about incoming bombers:

when an enemy bomber run comes into your sight you should consider saying it so friendly CV (and AA) ca

It's nice to see someone post the basics of BB and CV play, would be great if most of the newer players got to see this.  We also have to take into consideration that with the hobbit war map the average ability of those playing BB and CV dropped off the peak of Mt. Everst.

Still hope more new and some older BB/CV players read this so they can at least start bettering themselves and what they can do for their teams.

I have posted in defense of CV drivers b4 and totally agree with this stuff here. The post was called " in defense of the average and up CV driver" It might add something to this if your interested. In that post I detailed reasons why BB players (even experienced ones) totally noob it up.

the #1 reason is the BB line IMO,  the BB line is a delicate thing.

for EX: driving toward the enemy team is good to claim space, but you range the enemy if you get more south/north then they are. Therefore, the leading BB should do his best to claim distance south/north. (that way your turning around at the edge will also be smoother and not so crowded).

Id also like to add that CV drivers should not only not cross BBs, but not be cutting off their escape path either, this means you have to be at least 3 ship leangths from the line. Becasue if your in the way it preempts manuevers. This means you MUST fall back when your BBs fall back. Or else its like auto lose becasue of congestion and your BBs get tied up trying to find space.

your a cv1 its natual you cant go for the big bbs or cvs

when you have reached cv3-cv4 lvl then you can be a change if your fighter pilots have been lvled up to 75

bombers just lvl up those and use them in groups of 3-4 planes per pilot

dont do 8 planes per pilot the fueling time is horrible and it does screw over your fellow teammates not that i like to defend the bb players

hope this helps for ya quenirland

and i still agree that alot of bb players should read this

One more thing. Dont bunch up.  There's nothing worse than 4 BB's trying to cross turn at the same time.  Hell, the enemy doesn't even really need to aim at that point. They're bound to hit something when the target is 3 BB's wide and 2 Bb's long!

all this advice is good but the truth is players dont think alot about TEAM in GB, there all about getting the kill of hitting the target most of the time, experienced long termers are more concious of the game plan because they have played lots. CV in a GB have many tasks and duties but individual players equip there ships to suit there playing style whether it be for EXP/CRED gain or just mass destruction. there is no better way for a cv to play than the way he knows best. all these tactics on how to play are best designed for HA where u are accountible for what you do because your fleet depends on everyone to do there bit. BB players do need to attempt to give themself sight because only they know where they are looking or the gun range they are in, there are limits on the available space a BB can hold and there scouts arnt always that fast or strong which leave them prey to any FP going past or alot of time a AA ship will chew them up like candy. why should a CV with fp give light for a BB when all they get is a couple of plane kills while the BB takes all the glory. and if the enemy sends in better FP or micro ftw then the BB abuses the CV for no light, who is right?

nice tips for the bb drivers, exspaically me srry for miss-spelling. Only one comment through if u cant get a full plane set up in 2 mins, then u have no use playing cv. due to the fact u are loading to many planes on one pilot. i usally can have a full squad up and over the rear of the emeny line within the first 40 secs. of game. sure that group of fps may get taken down by a high lvl cv lanuching 6-8 fps on one pilot, and just as he thinks oh ya i pawn him, my sec group is moving in and cleans house.  it should never take a cv one min or longer to have sight in the air at the start of a match.
