I agree. If this is your first ship then I would go for the Hosho to get the credits to purchase the next cv. If your incomeis already good then there is't much reason to go with it. An example of how much the Hosho or any cv makes is this(personal story):
My first ship was a MN BB. I managed to get the Lyon, but felt like taking a break from it (waiting for the next patch) I had made a cv crew in the past for IJN that was roughly lvl 24 all round. I grinded it up to Oyodo and then the mogami remod. I then wanted to try out the Hosho but actually had to sell my Lyon to afford it. Within two days of buying the Hosho I had bought back my Lyon and purchased the Ryujo. I made about 2.4mil credits in two days of casual play. That is the advantage of the Hosho.

Even without premium and events a hosho could get over 50k credit per game with little to no problem (i'm taling about blitz here).
