Do I really need "seaman " on my ships?

what is their purpose, and can I not just use gunners or other support sailors on CV's?

And if I should need them what should I roll for?

so, only use 1 seaman per ship?

and use EB bomber or fighter for CV's or support's for BB's?

Yes, that pretty well sum's it up. Use an elite fighter/bomber classed as a seaman on CV's depending on your preference of FW or BW, and a good overall stat sailor classed as seaman on BB's. The best overall general seaman can be made from the old original 14,10,10,10,etc sailors. And yes, you only want/need to have ONE.

Nik

EDIT: I reread your wording from the original post, and must add this. For CV use you can benefit from the boosted ability your pilots will recieve. The seaman will do the same for your BB crew as well, however eventually you will probably find that slot put to better use with an additional engineer or repairer on your BB. You dont NEED a seaman on either ship, but you may find it more helpfull on a CV if you want your pilots to remain competative.

Well sir, I'm not going to say your tests are incorrect however I feel as tho your theory isn't proper, I myself use 2-3 sm's per nation depending on what I'm looking to gain, and elite seaman are not always the best...especially in UK's situation, because the potential is a gain factor of its own for them as well for US. I personally have tested many of my diff nation carriers using 0-3 sm and found 2 to be the most benificial except in IjN's case where I prefer to use 3. Now keep in mind seaman will only do you so good. I use 3 ijn sm's however due to that I had no space for other supports....this meaning I have almost the slowest degrasse inthe game.

Well you are free to believe what you will man. But a few years ago I did some extensive testing regarding the effect seaman or multiple seaman had on different sailor abilities. extrapolating the game data using DeBugView at the time. Its not theory, it was scientific and repeatable. The numbers are what they are.

Nik

Very Good reply Nik

And Ultra Dog is correct also.   There is an increase in SD with seaman and that is a good thing for lower lvl BBs.
