  • Prince Of Wales or EBB4 Hood 1939? Hmmmmm..... what to choose.....

Stealth001

This is based on my Expirience with both ships.

Prince of Wales.

Pros:
Speedwhore set up: 2 14inch Mark III (lvl 75) guns with no armor. From 29 to 47 knots speed.
Armorwhore set up: Same guns as above, as much armor as you can put on it. Dangerous yet vulnerable target.
Balanced set up: What beter suits you.

Cons:
Vulnerable ship with any set up upon any other ship of the same tier.

EBB Hood 1939

Pros:
4 Gun set up, you can put either 14inch or 16inch guns on it. Great Broadside firepower.
Good turning force, not the best, but just good.
G
ood looking ship, i like the sprites.
Cons:
Ship Displacement does not allow you to armorwhore it with a full 13 sailor crew.
Even with the most powerfull engine you can use on this ship it wont go faster than 38 knots with a 2 gun set up and no armor.
Verry big ship, this is even bigger than a BB6 Kaiser or Queen Victoria. Whats up with that? NEEDS FIXING ASAP.
The gun set up is not clear for this ship, its a puzzle to make it work the most balanced way between firepower and range. (i will reach Queen Victoria before figuring the gun set up for Hood 1939)
The range is significantly short to call this ship and EBB 4. It should need to be called EBB3, and the lvl limit reduced between 75 and 80. IF you want to call it EBB4, fine, but fix the range and make a special gun for it.
More vulnerable ship than the Prince Of Wales. I got 2 shoted in the first 5 minutes of a battle in 6 battles out of 10 with 900 SD.

For those are wanting a Hood 1939 dont go for it, its not worth it. Stik to the BB3 you have now and level from there, or choose the old EBB Valiant to do so, you will level faster with a ship you know, even if you know it from this forums.

In my expirience the EBB4 Hood 1939 is the WORST EBB THAT SDE HAS DESING IN THIS GAME. NOTHING TO DO, THE NORMAL HOOD SUCKS, BOTH SHIPS ARE TO BIG.

I expected more from the EBB 4 Hood 1939. I will try to figure out the best set up for this ship, find some more pros, and update this thread ASAP.

I like both ships, but the EBB Hood is not bad too play with x4 15" guns.

My only problem with the Hood is its size, if they downsized it a bit would be a great ship instead of good.

I believe that it is it's size that has caused it to be given good turn rate and speed in an attempt to compensate. Of course, that only really compensates if you know how to take advantage of these perks, so it's not a perfect solution. I thought I had heard it had good submergence aswell, but it doesn't seem to.

They did.

You said your gunners were only level 86.  I assume your support crew is similar.  Slap 15 levels on them and you'll see a sure difference.

There's a definite proper setup for the Hood, and it has great submergence.

If it is 44/42 EBB/BB3 HOOD good speed for compensation, then I would not to wat see if HOOD has goood size how much slover will be. IE fo eample ITALIAN BB3 make 44 (faster then Hood and much smaler with similar range and better teoritical firepover and rate of fire).

Stil don't uderstand why is hood so slow in this game. Many slower ship ale faster the Hood Why ? Balance ? Imposible. May be in history HOOD to fast. The thy meak it slover but too much. And now 90% players are ok with its speed. (becouse don't have it) and rest are magrginal which blame alway on evrything. Thi is how they see it. but thi is wrong seein abaut this problem.

EBB Hood 1939 is generally awesome. Better than Vanny in GB in my opinion. Of course, if Hood1939 plays 1 on 1 against Vanny, not much chance. But in GB, greater speed and turning force is a big deal which helps you get in and get out of a fight more quickly, get rid of an SS chase more easily, and also which makes it more difficult for your enemy to hit you.

I enjoyed EBB Hood 1939 all the way to LionII (with at-level crew). With 15*2 MarkIII L + 5.25L AA guns set up, going 44knt at top speed, also with the ability to snipe enemy's scouts, not too shabby for Hood1939 at all.

VERY IMPORTANT: To learn how to sling shot is one prerequisite to enjoy this ship.
