I would greatly appreciate if anybody can give tips or advice on how to minimize spread. Like what level should a gunner become or it has something to do with the number of experts/ vets among recruits or the sailor should be way above the level of the current gun being used. Thanks in advance.

keep your gunners Vetted and Experted as much as possible if you can afford to and as close to 150% on vet ability and atleast 10 lvls higher then the guns your using also ignore the posts about acc cap as if they r capped there is no hope for better spread and is a waste to listen to useless info

I have no idea what the previous post is meant to say, so ignore it.

As Richard said, all the posts which quote actual numbers about the Accuracy Cap are no longer valid.
They use the value for the OLD accuracy cap. The Accuracy cap has since been raised according to SDE, but we can no longer see if they indeed did it and if yes by how much it is raised.

Suffice to say that for most gunners, if they are lvl 90 and have about bve status with a decent base value you have a good chance the gunners are accuracy capped . Only increasing their level will help your spread then.

While the accuracy caps have changed, if there is any logic to it, caps have changed in a consistent matter (consistent across levels). The True ability formula (to my knowledge) still holds true meaning if your trying to compare various sailors, while you might not know where the exact cap is, you can see the difference between potential sailors. When it comes to gunners, the cap really only serves one purpose, and that is how much weight can you save on your gunners. The cold hard fact is, the performance of the gunners is more important than the numbers (consider cars if you want a comparison... Just because your car makes 300 hp on paper doesn't mean much if it doesn't perform on the track). The formulas help to build crews and judge levels at which you can expect to see certain levels of performance however again these change as the levels increase as well.

One thing to keep in mind: Just because you have hit the accuracy cap does not mean you have hit the reload cap. So, you want to get the most vets on there that you can. I have my gunners sitting at around 180% at the moment. Their spread didn't get any better after 160% but their reload speed is getting much better. So, even if your spread doesnt improve your firing rate does. That will always help.

something that has only been mentioned in passing ... is that the gunset itself also affects spread ...

so you might get better spread out of using a differnt set of guns .. (or worse if you go the wrong way)
