I have started lvling up a cv crew and my pilots are all reaching lvl 60.   I have read mixed reviews  on how i should class my fighters.   Should I class them as ace or lvl them all the way as fighters.

Applies to all pilots actually as pilots are the only crew that decreases crew growth with classing. Scouts however really do not matter as they are left at rookie pilot.

Experts and vets provide ability, recruits do not directly provide to it. Recruits are merely the building blocks for experts and vets.

Seperate discussion as you are now comparing support stats or "soft sailor" to highest ability for the specific trait (fighters Fighter and bomber Bomber).

I actually have 2 soft scouts, one on a US crew that I got lazy and classed around 70, and an SN classed at 100. At the same time I was also one of the people who ghosted their scout for weight reduction for bulge (wasn't really worth it) and will spend time AA'ing to try to vet to a reasonable point (150-200) for the rep ability on a soft scout. Hyz or Hanyizou used an elite rep for his soft scout and overvetted and had real good success with it, however I do not see the average person doing this. (bear in mind I also levelled my SN scout to 100 on a seperate line so as not to be in a BB without a scout)

Support stats matter for all sailors.

A two-year necro just for saying this? You need to have your head examined.
