  • How should I balance between expert farming and playing BB?

 As far as I'm aware, most people pay their way for experts/vets(Esp. for gunners) in order to to stay on par against others(They were surprised that I didn' have any vets at all). So, I've took someone's advice and B/V/E(100vet) my 12/10 gunners when they were at low level. Now that I'm at lvl55 and is about to get out of blitz, I've noticed some problems.
 
 Since the amount of sailors increases as they level up and experts gain is quite low, I don't see myself being able to 'catch up' the needed experts for the levels. I've been playing like a no life for two days, half of my time were PURELY AAing in the emerald and all I've farmed were ~70 experts. 

 If I continue AA farming until I have sufficient V/E for everyone, I can see myself reaching lvl120 until I could finally start playing my first UK BB(hell that would probably be enough to go straight for QV as my 1st BB lol), which doesn't sound right at all. 

I don't mind spending ~$20 for a F2P game once in while, but there's no way I'm gonna pay like $100 for 10000+ experts just so I could V/E a full crew.
 
I must be missing something right? Will it get better once I'm higher lvl? How could a 'F2P' user able to somewhat stay on par with others in terms of number of experts/vets? Or is that something not a F2P user could do until lvl120, meaning I'll have to be the underdog til all the way up there?

thats why i usually dont bother with AA expert farming, its not fun to me (if playing support to lvl up i usually go ASW because it has a bigger impact on the game result, so more xp but less experts) 

playing with a bb2-3 with average crews in GB will teach you a thing or 2 as well (mostly the range of higher tier BB's and when to time your attacks)

so if you dont like AA-ing, find a different task to play for/within your team



Oh wait, you could get more xp ASWing? I actually enjoy doing both AA and ASW(ASW more), but the exp penalty AAing in the emden now is dragging me badly(my crew is lvl66). And I'm very tempted in getting the Moltke.
 
Speaking of ASW, do you do it with a DD or put a sonar in a CL?

the germans have good higher lvl AA platforms, specially in the project line (deutschland & P-pro1 for the good ranged support and good AA platforms)

But i guess you went the other line, otherwise you'd know by now, the german low tier bb's have a decent range with the last set of triple 11, and plenty of T slots.

if you go ASW with a ship that cant mount sonar, consider an escort if you dont have any sonar (dd1 or ff are cheap escorts with sonar ability)
with good speed & T slots a KM BB1-2 can also be a sub hunter, at least you'll have an enemy that comes into range on your terms ;)

moltke can be fun, but i dont think she's a must have

Would the Project's be a better ship AA wise tho? From a 10 year old thread that I read, it seemed people back then liked the Moltke better.

I'm looking for something like the emden but higher level to help grinding lvl60~80ish.  The Moltke seems to fit that role perfectly and it has more slots as a prem, so it could be my primarily trainer for other lines in the future as well.

Molke is by far the best AA platform in the game and a great ship for leveling crew.
