UK SS5 is very special, it is very strong with the appropiate crew (overvetted)

But it is slow turnning and diving, and very often is food in GB.

Only, it is good against BB's or another ships cannot see it.

if someone wants to play in GB, need has a good repair and restore numbers on his ss crew to resist the damage from ships with HH or another SS, to have a chance to kill them.

Actually i prefer use the UK SS4, it is more versatile than UK SS5.

All I can say is that the ss5 isn't worth the hard work of lvling from the ss4. It has a few advantages: you can carry more torpedoes, you can carry more sailors, and you can carry a scout. But it has a lot of disadvantages: reload time a lot higher, only 4 front torps, no rear torps, useless gun, worse turning force, slower dive/crit dive. And it's incredibly ugly!
I prefer to use my ss4, except for HA, where the scout is useful, and it's nice to be harder to kill.

Certainly the deck gun should be improved to be effective, but any gun not blasting 12" shells in GB is pretty inefffective anyway.

Gameplay pits SS vs SS in most batles. Something never actually occuring in the vast oceans of the world during WWII. Using odd variations of subs doesn't quite fit into the gameplay very well. NF has this odd penchant for bringing in unique variations, but not really thinking for a moment how the heck they're going to be effective in the gaming environment. The Scout seems useless, but I've had times in my sub where I wish I could see which direction I should be heading towards the enemy. The better option is the IJN TBs.

As a potential UK SS5 player, I am reading these posts with dread. Is there any talk about changing the UK SS5 to a more appropriate model in line with WWII rather than WWI? Possibly the T class, or the River class?
