I got a thought SDE, You talk about attracting new players to this game.  Bringing the NEW Italian Nation on-line to bring  yet others to play our once great game.

FIX THE FRIGGIN LAG! for the last two weeks the server has almost nonplayable

Girth out!

I am using Windows 7 64-bit, and I haven't really had any lag issues for the past several weeks while everyone else appears to be having these issues. I haven't been running it in any compatibility mode or as an Administrator, and I have been minimizing it during battles and between battles with no change in issues.

So, all of a sudden the game starts lagging and it's nothing to do with you? Hilarious. I lagg on NF in a small room but can play BF3 with 64 people perfectly fine on a 3 MB connection.

What a joke.

Specifically, it seems that players running Windows 7 with lower amounts of RAM (less than 4GB) often experience these issues more than others and for them the best suggestions are to defrag the hard drive and to make sure not to minimize NF once loaded.

The Windows 7 code patch is our dev's 1st priority at this time and should be completed soon. Once it is updated to the server it should hopefully improve your conditions. If I hear of any update or a new suggestion I will let you know.

Ok, I have 4gb of ram. I run in compatibility mode xp, with visual themes disabled, desktop composition disabled and run as admin.

And I still lag. And this only just started last two weeks. Nothing has changed in my system.

And the Tracert i sent in showed a loss in instanbul. Which I have still yet to understand why an American Server(Aledged) is ending in Korea..

And I have these reports that I have been running. I even sent a copy in last week..

I have spoke with some from Europe and they do not lag. While people in the USA lag. Could this be because they have less hops to Korea than USA does?

So I am pretty certian problem is not All our Systems. Since this just started over last two weeks ...

Maybe if NF Didn't use as much RAM and Pagefile as 2 popular FPS names ending in the #3 and a single play game that was just awesome this year combined...

Seriously. Better resource management would solve so many problems. Based on the client side resource usage, I'm wondering how much wasted resources the servers use.

No no no. Don't run it in compatibility mode for XP! Run it in compatibility mode for Win98. If you run it with XP it lags like there's no tomorrow.

My mistake, I checked it and am running in win98/ME compatibility.

It is NFEU I run in xp with no issues..

Also on the test server I do not lag at all..

yes there WAS a partch .. and the lag started right around the exact same time ... you do the math

i've been saying since the lag-fest started that its from the the patch for the KAISER EXP EVENTS

i'm on an old machine with actual win XP ....
same exact machine i been playing NF on just fine for the past 6 years with NO lag issues ..
at least not until the start of the kaiser mini event #1 a few weeks ago .. and it got worst during mini event #2

is the KAISER-ONLY MINI EVENT PATCHES that messed something up across the NFNA servers

and it's re-inforced by this tidbit ...

Ram isnt the problem. I have 16 GB ram, 750 GB HDD, and 1 GB graphics card and I've been getting bad lag spikes for the past 2 weeks. I also have the setting set correctly to run this game on windows 7. Before that, I had next to no lag whatsoever.

So this is an SDE issue. Something they added screwed something up and caused lag issues. It also added to the crash problem during the AA vs BS Harbour assult that was lost because all black sun members crashed with none of the AA members crashing. Now this could be because AA was opening rooms they already won in HT row, but thats another issue SDE needs to fix.

*Edit*
The lag started 2 weeks ago with that patch about the test server. When I started the normal updater, it ran, gave an error message, then restarted and worked fine. I bet SDE messed something up when they did that. That would be the reason for that error, and for the lag.

It's probably the key give away that they messed something up, but was over-looked because after it happened, the game started fine. I know I ignored the error until I thought of it now.

I believe Mfischer did discover that the packets were routed to korea and then back to the servers in US.. that could be a problem..
