  • APA Hybrids ?

Okay so this was brought up to my attention by a Fleet mate since ive never paid enough attention to this .

my fleet mate had trouble reasoning with him self when buying the Shimakaze why it cost so much for a POS DD when he noticed its Vesel type isnt the same as the rest and inqiuerd me for knowledge about the ship type actualy being an APA ship type and the Kuma aswell but now the qeustion comes to what the heck is this a Hybrid like some IJN ships can these two ships be used for storming the Beaches during HAs and nobodys noticed before or this just some kinda thing were it rly dont matter been around long enough to never heard about this one so i dont feel its a dumb topic or any thing but a possible key for better APA uses in HAs
anyone with the awenser kinda dying to know this one as it could be fun when the new HA game mode comes

During WW2 the Japanese navy converted a number of these types of ships to be used as fast transports as part of the Tokyo Express so Im guessing they are designated this description because it was one of their roles during the war.

I doubt they can be used in an APA role, but Im willing to test it out next time we do a HA though.

Hello TNF,
This is just a quick question.
Is the Shimakaze a Transport ship and can it be used like a APA??
if not it this just a bug or typo on the system?

Hello,

This may be a bug as the Japanese APA ship would be Shinshumaru. Shimakaze would work best set up primarily for torping.

yeah but then why out of all the Nations and ship lines does the Shimakaze and Kuma are the only 2 ships with that besides the normal APAs

Just an FYI

This was pointed out and known about since 2007 a few months after beta started when players reached these ships (it was also possible to put Torps on R slots. making them mega powerful, and they also had limited stock and were sold out quite fast).

This has been around for AGES. Even before HA was introduced. Its most likely a translation/error, or some part of the game that is no longer in NF that has not been changed/fixed.

(Stuff like custom armor, where in the old NF you could mix different metals to create different armor, i.e. a light but weak armor or a heavy but strong armor, etc)
