British: The Americans won their independence through battle and blood. You also must remember, America was founded by people fleeing England because of religious intolerance. So technically, you didn't found us, you just ticked off a lot of Protestant Christians and other minority groups and they/we founded America. When you taxed us we rebelled and won. Yes, the French did help. But in the words of our first Admiral, John Paul Jones, when he was asked to surrender the fleet to England, he said," I have not yet begun to fight." He went on and won the battle. Along with that, you had German Mercenaries, called Hessians(Idk if I spelled that right :p), working for you as well.
Americans: Don't get huff puffed about our victory. England was the superpower of their day, this is true. But remember the majority of their troops were in Europe. That and they were not used to American-styled fighting, which isn't open line battles, but tactical combat. Remember also that the French secured a lot of victories on the East Coast. The British also burned the capital to the ground in 1812.(Washington D.C.) They also are now one of our greatest allies and you should respect them.
So both sides are even. The British get mad because they lost the war, but we celebrate their loss and our victory. That is reason to be mad as it is literally reminding them every year. Remember though, Britain then respected America as a nation and even helped us re-build and now are one of the greatest allies the United States have and I wouldn't sacrifice that friendship.
Yelling back and forth about who is better seems childish.
