Hi,

I just wanted to be able to get a rough estimate of player "skill" :

For a "skilled" player are these the kind of averages they should be doing in their BB with an at level crew with gunners 10 level above gun set they are using:

BB1 Average Attack in Games: 50,000
BB2 Average Attack in Games: 70,000
BB3 Average Attack in Games: 100,000
BB4 Average Attack in Games: 150,000
BB5 Average Attack in Games: 200,000
BB6 Average Attack in Games: 200,000 +

Would this be a correct average to be seeking to maintain for each BB level?

There are a lot of interesting opinions here...

My thoughts on "skill":

Kill every single BB on the enemy team or you have failed.  Damage is meaningless, killing everyone else and winning is all that matters.

I read through all the replies to this topic and this one is the best I believe. Ajb also gave a good reply, with explaining of how to achieve this what Splid mentioned.

I really hate it when I lose when playing a BB5/6. I than try to learn from it, sadly I am still noob in progress. :D When playing lower tiers I usually do the best I can, but this is usually more difficult because they are with at level crews. Attack is inrelevant for higher tiers.

Small Edit: I don't completely agree with ajb's view on BW carriers. I think such players should be capable of manual bombing. I also believe bombing an good AA ship is a good thing, but depends on the circumstances.

You are only really comparing yourself against current GB players at the moment. Who aren't generally of a very high standard.

Most games for me are driving at people south while they retreat all the way to the back of the room before firing a shell, killing their north from underneath and the game ends.

Either that or 2 QV's and a Proscuttio smoke rush and hope for the best.

I agree that damage makes no difference. You could score an additional 50k on smaller ships of no consequence and be very excited by breaking 200k. I feel like this may be the attitude of exp farming bb specialities.

Current GB is a shambles as you have said.

I came back for 30 games, played only Lion II with my reasonably good crew and won all 30 games, and only died once...

To be honest, attitude is the thing that separates the good players from the bad players.  From the first time I set foot in a BB I wanted to dominate every other BB, so I aimed to destroy everyone else.

In all the 9 years I played I can only say I destroyed every BB on the enemy team twice lol.  Aiming high is how you actually manage to accomplish great things.  It is only a game, but if you want to be seen as the best in the game, you need to take it more seriously than everyone else (or be incredibly naturally gifted).

Seems like someone got luck with teams ;)

It doesn't matter what you want, when your team is simply braindead; 6/10 BBs die within 2 mins for no reason, SS hunting DD whilst getting chased by enemy SS, CVs forget to move there planes - positioned right next to there ship etc.

Not getting randomed into one braindead team in 30 battles at the current state of GB playstyle is like winning a big pot of cash in lottery. Congratulations to you!

I'm looking forward to get mixed in a team with you! :)

(Besides that.. L2 is utterly boring and easy to farm with in GB ^^)

If you think luck plays a part in NF then you completely missed the point of my post.

How many times do you see someone mince up to the battle line in a BB2, throw out their scout at default height and then promptly die to an enemy BB5 in 1/2 salvos?

This game can easily be carried by one person in most classes above BB4 and even by some PCAs.  The problem is people sit there with the attitude that "I am just a BB2, they can one shot me", so they just go and get 1 shotted.  I have never entered a room thinking I would lose (except HA).

This game used to be FULL of people with the same attitude as me, who would fight all game, every game for every last bit of damage, every last kill and then have a chat about it in the next lobby.  The problem is, no one cares anymore.  No one wants to be the best because when they die, they still get their 40k+ XP due to 300% XP events and other such nonsense.

It is funny how often people use phrases like "braindead teams".  It is more of a sign of a weak player (both mentally and mechanically) than a reflection of the team themselves.

Except when the player is over 30% of team attack, in which case they're merely lamenting the same problems as you.

@OP

I'm not a great player, infact I'm probably pretty average. But I think all of those averages are pretty vast overestimates, especially when you consider the mathematical limitations.

Assume a BB5 can take about 100k damage before sinking (without the opportunity to repair it's realistically more like 60k). And a battle takes places with 10 BB5s vs 10 BB5s. There is only 1,000,000 damage that can be done before a team has won. So it would be impossible for all 10 members of a team to be average, because for all 10 to do 200k damage there would have to be 2,000,000 damage to be taken by the enemy team. Assume all these players are equally skilled and are well above average in skill, they each fight one enemy BB5 1 on 1 and sink the enemy (doing 100k damage) without taking any damage themselves. Each of these players ends the battle with 100k attack, but according to the 200k 'average' they are below average in skill. If 5 of the players did 200k damage in order to be merely 'average' (not even above average) the other 5 would do no attack whatsoever, despite all these players being equally skilled.

Even if I am able to consistently do 150k attack in every game in a BB6, I won't always get the chance. Sometimes the rest of my team has sunk the rest of the team first, so I probably average only about 70-90k in my BB6 between the games I do well (150-200k) and the games I dont (sunk like the noob I am with 0 atk).

Personally, I just aim to do more damage than I would be worth to the enemy, roughly double my DP I usually assume, which I feel is fairly realistic results from any won game.
