It need some tweaking based on your system.

Run as Admin of course.

Add DEP Exception for all 3 EXEs (navyfield.exe, navyfieldlauncher.exe and the updaters exe)

I haven't had much of a chance on getting the right settings since mine sorta just worked off the bat on both system I have 8 on. Seams very hit or miss at the moment.

After some tweaking, I got it to actually run.  The main problem I have is that I can't get aspect ratio scaling like I could in Windows 7.  The option just doesn't show up in the NVIDIA control panel.  When I set it to run on my integrated Intel card, even though I have it configured to use aspect ratio scaling, it still stretches the screen.

Does anyone know how to enable aspect ratio scaling?  I have just installed Windows XP on a virtual machine for now, but this is not as good of a solution.

It works on mine with no changes at all. Not even the Win7 Patch.

is there an easy way to do/explain this?
a dutch fleety bought a W8 computer last week and has some trouble

basicly it runs fine at the first execute after installation, but fails to run after you try opening after that first launch..

could sound like an nfupdater error, but i'm not that much into computers & dont have W8 myself, so could anyone explain the DEP exception bit some more?

I never needed to adjust DEP but as for what DEP is...

DEP (Data Execution Prevention)- Window's way of preventing applications from doing bad stuff to your computer. If you add NF to this, it will allow NF to do more. It's basically trusting NavyFIELD isn't gonna do anything stupid with your computer.

Go to:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System
Click "Advanced System Settings" down the left hand side
Click the "Advanced" tab at the top
Under "Performance" click "Settings"
Click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab

TA-DA!
