I know this thread is necro but the answer is definitive.

NEVER EVER USE SOMETHING AS VALUABLE AS A BO RESET for a shipline that can use a
powerlevelled BO (i.e. sub, tw or cv). You want a Kita BO? Just powerlevel one, no
brainer. Will take you a day to have a Sima level BO or a bit more for a Kita level one.
Only use a BO reset for gunship line (is that even relevant in IJN? I guess maybe if you
want to try Ise CV and you have Fuso BO).

Train another BO which goes for Kita, use your existing sub sailor to farm as well. It
is not too hard to grind from lvl 1 to Kita if you got higher lvl crew, at the same time
you could farm additional support.

Kita= Fun to play, if properly used,30-60k atttack at LEAST is guaranteed.

Sub=Great ship, can kill anything, low exp compared to BB and cv due to its low level.

On a second thought, it's nice to have both.

There're both two pretty different ships. A sub's great for precision target, if you've
got decent engineers, chances are you'll kill your target or have it running from you
for the entire duration. A kita on the other hand works decently well for making
people go where you want to and general crowd control. Course the strongest
point of the kita is it's playstyle, drop your torps and you'll either die while doing it or
run out of torps to drop in which case you can just point towards the enemy and go
do something else. Cause in all practicality a ship that can't deal damage is only
good for scouting. Otherwise choose a sub if you actually want to kill things that
aren't just afked or really low leveled.

You can also place Hedge Hogs on the kita's R slots and play ASW after running out of torps...

Personally, I find subs a lot more fun... in a torpedo whore, you usually just dump
most of your useful ordinance early in the battle... then spend the remainder
avoiding the enemy and hoping your side wins. In a sub, you have to strategize;
beginning to end. It takes much longer to sneak through the enemy and find your
target, but at least you are still relevant at the end of the battle. In a GB/GB2
comprised mostly of upper level BB, I can't see a Kita' as having a realistic chance to
be a game-changer. The same certaily isn't true of a well-handled sub, however.

Lol this post was posted in 2009, for the record. He probably already used it or
stopped playing.

Get the Sub. The Kita was the first ship I grinded for and I still occasionally play it
but since they nerfed Torp XP to oblivion it's just not the same anymore. Of course, the
first couple of weeks were fun once you figured how to lay the fans and just watch em run
and die.

The Hei on the other hand, never gets old. 8 tubes of Doom, how about that. I have not
find a ship yet that can survive more than two full salvos. Got me a QV last time I
played, full DP and I guess a lot of bulge.

Keep in mind you'd only be able to play Kita in blitz for another 8 levels. After that you
go to GB2 exclusively and you'll find yourself with a whole different play style then
Blitz Kita.
If you have gunners for GB2 lvl ships (IJN BB Line) I would consider moving your BO over.
Or you could class up another one. 52 Doesn't really take that long.
