  • Omaha or DDX?

Hello there, I have recently unlocked the DDX from my BO level up. I was curuious as
to which ship i should get, and a few short responses in the waiting room told me
not to. However, i would rather use the advice from a specific forum topic. So here I
am. Short story: DDX or Omaha?

Thanks in Advance,
Conpen

wanna bet? I've sunk CAs in fletcher on nelson, and god forbid I run torps on my ship.
Loss of 2 priceless leveling spot.

FFS I've sunk CAs in a Z1. Thats how pitiful the skill average is there. 40k DD2 game ftw.

HAW timmer can nuke any CA in the right hands. especially the HHE idiots.

true it won't sink a good player. But those are so rare its easy to simply avoid them or
participate in a gangbang vs them.

Well, I did it
Timerman is using 69 x4 and Guering DDR is using 66 x3 + 33 x2. If you like to play
Torps guering is fun. Additionally, you never will sink a Ca or a good play Cl with a
Timer adn you can do it with a guering.
If I were you, I would change my Guering for a DDx, but never for a Timerman. I
used a timerman and I was very upset about it

What to do?
Well, it depends of your playing style.
If you are thinking that the Omaha is a "normal light criuser" you will be very upset
with it.
Omaha is not a ship for playing blitz, is a marvelous AA support in great battles.
So, if you are new, my advise is, go to the DDx or remain with the guering DDR (if
you like to play torps) and at lvl 30 go to the Atlanta (please never use torps in it).
Regards, Amargar

"So we can agree to agree on my original statement? :P"

I never objected it (or I never wanted to), but still. Mutual agreement has been achieved ^^

The Omaha is a killer AA ship if you know what yoru oing.

But I also use it as a Sub killer, have you seen how many HHs this baby can throw
out and with a speed of 60 knts out of the box she is great fun to play.

"Second off, you say that the Omaha isnt EVER usable for fighting ship to ship which is
clearly false. Out of all the ECLs I would say the Omaha is BEST at ship to ship fighting
with its range and speed. The only ECL I would say is not suitable for ship to ship
fighting is the Emden since it cannot carry proper CL guns."

I agree with you that it is a magnificent ship to use and will kill everything in its path with the 7"
configuration (am not really sure about the Emerald with the 5.25 though, but heck, its a good ship
regardless).

However, since we both kind of lost the question the thread starter asked (oops =/), we kind of
ended up evaluating the Omaha on the whole rather than at-level in comparison with the DDX.

Perhaps I overstated my point on the Omaha's suckiness at-level or wasn't clear enough, but I
agree with all the statements you made about its configurations. However, I still stand on my view
that the DDX is better at-level compared to the Omaha. You are right in saying it has better FCS as
well as better DP, but these two things are sort of spoiled by the fact that people these days
fictory their ships to the frontline and not using the range advantage. The hitbox also counters
with the DP advantage, plus the chances that a CV or any larger surface vessel will notice of you
more easily than a DD.

Just look at all that empty displacement in the Screenshot. I personally prefer speed,
which is why I use the lighter 7" singles when I can but you can easily armor it. I would
recommend a different gunset though or atleast 7" Ds for armor setups.
