  • Dland Spread

Hi, I recently bought a Dland and my spread is horrible....

Now before you go on, I have read tons of topics about the Dland and the neccesity for BVW
high level gunners. I currently have lvl 52 gunners, 11/11, full BVE, experts filled to
the brim, and my spread is still horrible. My gunners have a ability of 2240 after
counting in the vets and experts.

I have seen people on the forums stating that an ability of 1500 or BVE gunners are
sufficient to achieve an acceptable spread, but I just dont see it happening on my ship.

Right now I'm back on my Mpro and the occasional Emden AA whoring to level up my
gunners. Any suggestions or opinions will be appreciated.

And like I said, Hipper/Prinz with the proper 8"Ls second set have a far worse spread then
Dland with the proper 11" N's. BTW last time they had a capped CA war on AZ I won with a
Prinz using only 2 gunners, a BO, and a scout; shotgun spread and all.

Unfortunately without knowing what the ability caps were raised to (or rather raised by)
it is only possible to speculate when sailors will cap based on 2-3 possible cap increase
percentages.

Something that would be a little more interesting for this particular thread than just
capped gunners would be to compare the accuracy revision on the guns/fcs and gunners, then
compare to other guns around the same level (of other nations as well) and compare
spread... determine just how difficult at/near level gunners are for dland as compared to
other relative ships.

The table in here.

Tough I guess he did a calculation for boosted KM gunners as well.

Its not bad with mid 50's gunners. At those levels no KM ship will have a good spread
unless you want to resort to putting DD caliber 5.9s on an mpro or hipper. Both sets of my
KM gunners were 10/10 bve and I did just fine. Playing KM in blitz I could go battles
without even taking splash damage by exploiting my range from Mpro on. Face the facts, you
have to give up a tight spread if you want to be untouchable.

Yeah already checked the patch notes (back somewhere near Halloween of 09 and introduction
of GBII). Tried asking Mod as well no one seems to have a definitive %.

I've heard 10%, 15%, 20% and 40%. On high level gunners the actual number differences is
substantial however the result is not really significant. On lower gunners the number
difference will be relatively lower but have a much larger impact. I've only really
gotten into playing with the true ability calculations recently and that was mostly
sparked by wanting to see the differences in true ability and caps between a fully BVE
nebby crew and my only partially BVE nebby crew, as well as what will be a VE crew.

I've become rather statistical and analytical over the past few years and think it would
be interesting to see the "on paper" numbers, then go through the play 0-120 and compare
back to what the numbers actually mean in terms of playability. I doubt it would change
my mind to going to unboosted crews on any new ones but who knows. Screwing around in
excel gives me something to do while waiting for games to start though.

Back on topic though, I played Dland with average crew and a very high level crew... and
that ship was brutal with an average crew...

@ Blazer: No. The caps were increased by something like 40% though I am not 100% sure
about that number. You can confirm the cap increase by checking the past patch notes
though I do not remember the date it was changed. Ultimately this dosnt change most high
level gunners. The problem comes if you wish to trim recruits like on a BO where knowing
the exact value is needed.

As caps were increased (and I'm yet to see by what figure), I'm curious how people are
calculating current caps. Before the adjustment it was fairly simple to calculate the
true ability and compare it to the cap based on the formula. My question would be is that
formula for the cap still valid?

dland horrible spreaad, was a question for me 2 years ago.

yes, the spread will be gone once your gunners level doubled.
trust me!

"That table used figures for unboosted gunners."

Incorrect, and I am not sure what table you are talking about.

That table used figures for unboosted gunners.
I even recalculated it for 11/11 gunners I once had ( standard bve) and they capped
out at 58/59.
