Request a lock, this is already a known fact.

a good way to get range is to put seamen in the gunner slots then you need to get
a hard solid gun for more range unlike those small things people use then you grasp
the gun with your hand and keep doing that for a while then your gun will fire away
but after you do this you need more seamen

Dried ground up Tiger peen in the gunpowder gives immediate results. I wouldn't
trust the bazaar vendors in Busan though.

To get more range try RAP shells. RAP = Rocket Assisted Projectile, kind of like my
new avatar there to the left.

lets not forget you get more range if you are going away from your target to so go in
reverse when firing forward :)
