  • Brooklyn vs CLs

I've read a lot of topics about the Brooklyn and I understood that it can be used
successfully as a DD killer. But most of the time the Blitzkrieg game contains only 4 or
max 6 DDs (and a lot of CL/CAs). If I use my Brooklyn as a DD killer, I always run into a
few CL/CAs which beat me hard. As a result I loose my biggest advantage: speed.

I was wondering whether it is possible to equip the Brooklyn in such way that it can be
used effectively against a CL/CA.

Any suggestions?

always thought loading up the belt and dropping the rear two guns and presenting my bow
instead of the wide beam to be fun in blitz. Just depends on ur style really, brook is
very effective in blitz.

You're absolutely right, DBs are my biggest enemies. Certainly because the Brooklyn is quite
large compared to other CLs. Deck armor is a no-go.
So the only thing you could do against DBs is dodging in combination with overhead-speed ...
and pray the CV player is still learning to aim DBs.

But that setup is vulnerable against DBs, so I ended up putting off belt armor except for
0.2, and took speed.

I must admit that playing a Brooklyn with a huge amount of belt armor and the tripple 6" D
guns and a CLIII engine is very funny in a Hobbit-Blitz game. Currently I have 4.5" of
belt armor and I would like to have more but couldn't due to credits shortage. Belt armor
is very effective on these small Blitz maps, where most shots are low angle. In addition,
belt armor is also effective against torpedos.
With this configuration, I'm able to rush quickly towards my prey, and given it a deathly
rain of 6" shells. I'm able to beat almost all DDs and CLs.

5"-6"range difference is too small, while the firepower difference is
considerable, so 5" has no meaning except for AA.

brook in the small blitz map with trip 6s should have no problem against cl/ca. if you
play in a bigger map, use the 5" high angle guns. more range

Blitz being what it is these days as along as you have a half decent crew you should eat
your way through it.

You have good speed and high firepower, range isnt an issue any more thanks to the
stupidly small maps so brook has it win win. You should out gun pretty much every thing
outside of BBs and even some of them are food due to the people at the helm.

Thanks a lot for your advices, I'm going to try all of them in order to see which best
fits my gameplay.

Against a SKILLED cl opponent the trick is to fight him only when the odds are in your
favor. If he cannot see you until you get close then you have a chance. Otherwise you are
near the bottom of the CL food chain. You may have great firepower but brooklyn range is
weak, especially compared to Mpro, Mog, and Cleveland. Dont worry though, Brooklyn still
outclasses at level Kbergs, Yubaris, most Atlantas, Emdens, and emeralds. If you want to
dominate the CL class with a USN ship then Cleveland is your only hope.
