I am pretty sure we all voted yes for this six months ago.

Where is it?

I can confirm that we did see sufficient support of this suggestion in order to try and have it developed. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a misunderstanding regarding how this would work initially. After reconfirming how this would work in-game, our developers reported back that it would be a bit more difficult to implement than originally imagined.

At the moment I believe work on this has been paused until our devs are able to determine the best way in which to implement it as players envision. I will update if there is any new info regarding this.

No offense, but having some lines change from green to red when a ship crosses you, doesn't seem like it would be that hard to code in... 2012 and devs from SDE are having trouble make colors change when ships defy the laws of physics

Oh my goodness, try not to be so rude!

First the code has to be written.  No easy task, I might add.  Then Phase One pre beta testing phase.  Then Phase Two post beta testing phase.  A coffee break.  Then a roundtable discussion.  Then Phase Three post post beta/implementation phase then lunch.  Then the community elders test it all out and compare notes.  Once that is finished a few "select" elder  to the elder group test out to make sure the red is red enough and the green is green enough.  Then around 4:30 its time to start cleaning up your work area because a clean place is a happy place and no one wants to be not happy.  Then at 5:05 they all meet at the pub and pat each other on the back over beers for the great job they did that day and how they can't wait to get right back at it again tomorrow.

My advice, try to be just a little bit more patient.

In short words...They lost the source code. LOL

The original programmer didn't leave any info on how the game engine works.

However, copy and pasting of code from the proximity alert for torps and simple line changing the guideline color to red from green instead of playing a sound, should logically and code wise, be simple work.

Of course setting the proximity for crossing to about 1/6 the distance of torp warning should give 1.5 second warning @ 40 knots of a ship crossing.

You know it's sad when someone who plays the game knows more about coding for the game than the dev's do...

FuzzyMcGee

this is by far not as easy to implement as it seems , i guess the big problem with it, is for the game to ,actually realize when u are crossing , just 2 hitboxes crossing , no real collision ....

there is a lot to be thought of even if it seems simple

but i can also understand that after 6 month people might get impatient ;D
