  • Low level BBs

This is realy begining to piss me off, in 5/6 games I can't get a single attack point. I know when it's my fault, but more than not, there is nothing I can do.

I knew being a lowly BB1/2 in GB was going to be a hard fight, but I don't even get a chance to fight. All I can do is put up scouts and stay behind big BBs untill an oppertunity comes up, but if big friendly BBs die I'm dead meat, when i take a oppertinity big enemy BBs target me because it's easier points, and if I am more reserved friendly big BBs push ahead and kill everything before I get  in range.

This kind of gameplay is no fun. I want to play the game, not watch for 3-6k exp a game.

Are there decent ways to get around this or mitigate it?

yep them bbs really suck so with that try moving the gunner on the rear gun(s) to the forward T slots and slap HH on it for supporting against subs, you only hav like 2-4 T-guns perside but it still helps if you can time the firing right with when the subs come out of crit diving. there is also the downgrading back to the CA for AA or anti sub to atleast get to BB3 level but hey that's just my two cents

Use AA or attack rushing DD/CLs to earn atleast 1 point or credit, because just earning 1 of either will get you far more exp than if you had 0, and just slowly grind your way to BB2.

Other than that, you can continue to either play in support and look for opportunities, you could just rush a well lit area to get some attack in a suicidal rush, or you could invest in a PBB, they have stats between BB2-3.

Well to be honest, the +30% exp item completely killed the Skirmish room which was intended for those who just graduated from Blitz.

Although BB1s and most BB2s with at-level crew are absolutely crap and cannot do much in GB, you can alwasy buy PBB (which can be used at Lvl61).

PBB has near-BB3 range and tinny wheeny hit box. As long as you don't run parallel to BB6, no BB or CV can easily one shot a PBB. With at-level crew, you can easily do 20k - 30k per game. Someone with level120 crew on PBB can average 100k+ per game.

This is SDE's business model (pay-to-win), sorry, just accept this fact...

But if you collect free olives every day and for a long time, you can get the PBB for free..

Here are a few tips to help you with Low level BB play:

1.) Play the middle of the map. Larger BB's usually play the north and south.

2.) Be patient. Wait for the smaller ships to sail into your range. Also take notice of where you can and can not see, as well as if you are scouted or not. All too often, the enemy leaves the middle of the map unscouted.

3.) Target distracted enemies. If 2 BB5's are going at it, try to get a few salvos in. Unless you have a BlackSun or TNF tag, the BB should ignore you and continuing firing at the larger BB. If he falls back, do not chase him. Play smart.

4.) If your BB can launch scouts, use a scout!

I hope these tips help. Sometimes you will have a breakout game where you end up getting 250K attack in a BB1. Sometimes you will have games where 14K seems nice.

In either case, Stay Frosty Out There! Good luck!

*What nation are you playing?

there are several tips that are most important for low lvl BB

as mentioned HH on the T slot(s)    You may have only 1 salvo per slot but
you'll need it for ss.  The big BBs will be looking downrange when an SS comes into
submerged view.   You should fire away.   Be prepared to fire your main guns at him as
he might be damaged enough to surface.

Don't forget to arm your scouts with mines.    An enemy may run into one and gain you some damage points.

Although it is laughed at, a few IJN hypertorpedo sailors on a low lvl BB can reach out and gain you some damage points.   Unless you are AAing, the Tslots could be put to other use then repair or restore sailors.    You won't fire a lot of torps, but you are looking for damage points.

Your job is to stay behind the main battle line and support the Bigger BBs.   Look for charging ships, surfaced SS as targets.    You can always AA too.

Try to get your gunners at least 5 or more levels above your Bridge Operator.  This helps the spread.    And check to see if your gunners are capped.   No need to add vets or experts if they are capped.

Grind on pal......thats the name of this game.

I had great battles with my RN BB1/2s being at level crews, you just need to have field awarness a bit of skill and a bit of idea when and what to shoot.

Depending on the nation the BBs will suck more or less but it all comes down to skill when grinding BB1/2s in GBs.

Whatzup

BB1 / BB2 range should be at par with BB3 range to make NF a better game.

I lol'd here.

However, bb 2 is not that bad at all in GB, though bb1 can be annoying.
Like somebody said already, try to stay in the middle. By doing so you have to choice to either go north or south, depending on where you can actually have input in the game.

Also watch for enemy planes. If you don't see any, you can try to go in and get some shots on an enemy bb. Don't forget to get out though when enemy planes are coming.

Using HH on T-slots can be useful too (also mentioned by somebody else), shooting at subs will give you attack as well.

Don't go front row either when the battle starts. How many bb1/2/3 that I see starting at the front row and insta rushing into death. Stay a bit behind the front line and pick off the enemy ships that come forward. After a while you will get ur moments where the enemy does not see you or is busy fighting somebody else.

Once you become higher lvl (bb4 and above) you will see the challenge of the bb1 and 2. For me its the most fun part of a grind, cause it's not that easy. Nothing is more satisfying than killing a bb5 in ur bb1 or 2 :D

The only trouble with going middle, especially if you do so early, is you can attract fire from enemies both north and south if you or they push forward early into the game.

NIborGER

I am curious what BB1/2 you are acutally talking about. Do you have any special one in mind? Or asking about general tips?

In general:
-dont AW BB1/2s
-AA helps a lot in BB1/2. Furthermore it gives good exp earning and free experts.
-some nations can choose to skip the BB1 by using a PCA/CA (especially for nations with good AA guns I recommend this). (P)CAs with same number of crewslots as BB1s are: Pensacola,Furious,Asama,Moltke,Mandel,Algerie,Petropavlovsk,Maxim Gorki,Bolzano(1942),Zara
-Some nations may consider to remove the rear gun to rush in (and out) faster to grab at least some attack (e.g. Scharnhorst,Renown,Alaska,Guam)

For better help please post crew details here and what ship you use.
