Why doesn't SDE advertise for this game? It really needs more players

Simple fixes
                     1. Advertise on youtube through let's play videos
                     2. Have and advertise events for low level players
                     3. Start off low level players with more points/creds
                     4. Buff the overall exp, i know a lot of people complain that exp rate stinks
                     5. Advertise on websites for cheap $

Maybe getting the old player base back would be easier than getting alot of new players.  If they would fix the things that caused most to leave I bet they could lure a higher percentage back to the game.  I vote they fix the crashing/desync problems then concentrate on finding a way of getting players that are already familiar to the game back!!

I see what you guys mean about the exp.. I guess the gameplay for lower levels in bb3 or less is what makes it unattractive and harder for new people to gain exp and keep people playing. It is rough to get to 89 especially with all the de sync and crashes. That is definitely priority number 1. But there should be another battle mode for newer people

Agreed.

Some years back SDE created the "Skirmish" room. At that time it was used by people with all-120 crews who farmed the entire room in their BB3s, turning away quite a few people. Took SDE a while to react to this. Plus, exp gain wasn't great (and still isn't), so basically the room died the death... (still exists, just nobody wants to play in it).

The thing is, we can't afford to split up the community any more unfortunately. Too little players left.

I know what you said in the sentence before, but I'll respond just as I would normally:

You must be new here.

No, that's not the reason.

There are quite a few YouTube videos about NavyField out there, but they're probably not the type you're looking for.  A number of people chronicle HA's and others have saved streams or recorded various tournaments, leagues, public games, and fleet events.  How much good it does varies from person to person.  I don't think the top priority is purely free advertisement.

not new..and i agree that free advertising isnt the main priority. Main priority should be these crashes that some maybe most people deal with. Then get some kind of paid advertisement so that draws people in. Maybe a steam client release? idk thats what NF2 is currently trying to do, but once this game can attract a lot of players and keep a good % of new players it'll all just flow from there. Especially with the WOW hype, a lot of people wanna play some of these sim games

Yea you are new hear if you don't know Rehor is the most valuable Non-SDE member of NF, forget the TNF.

Exp is to little? You guys get to lvl so fast you never learn the real values of the game. You want an arcade game? go to NF2. NF was/is about strategy learning how to beat your enemy with different tactics and skills. This game is to far gone. I use to relish the chance of playing against better players than my self knowing i'm gonna lose but i also gained skills by watching them play. Today guys just play games rush die rush die, stay back then die, and they get exp almost the same as me who basically got attack for everyone on the team.

P.S Stop asking for EXP. It takes time to be great show some pride in your game play and stop trying to get the next big ship. What's a big ship with no skills? Free EXP.

I have shown this game to several people at work, and the general consensus is the following:

It looks really old
It is unstable

So I propose we FIRST fix the crashes and desyncs issue

Then we work on an updated resolution...possibly even 3D version of NF

A stable 3D version of our current NF is a gold mine for SDE.

You could even make it pay to play and charge $10 a month, and I would happily pay if the game was stable and it had 3D models

#NYB is a masochist

What makes NF unique is its 2D fuck 3D, Ive played lots of 3D battle games..don't get the same skills out of them..and they require less effort. Tell you're co-workers try growing a pair.

I agree with you to an extent. The problem is we dont have an influx of newer players. These are the things newer players are looking for in a game. After getting farmed a million times over, it becomes demoralizing to a player. The lack of rewarding PVE content also drives away players. Not everyone is into a PVP deathmatch of skills.

I tend to prefer a PVE environment myself, and wish there were "missions" whereby I could gather a small group of 10-15 players on a Friday night and attempt to complete it. That is more appealing to me than the endless grind in GBs...

No need for a 3D NF1. Game play is great, less the crashes. EXP rate is a nice compromise between the low rates of yesteryears and the fantastical gains of events. Not getting enough EXP per game? Deal with it, learn from better players, practice, get better, repeat. Normally I would say EXP is earned not given, but EXP is shared now. Nonetheless, no excuse not to carry your weight.

In my epxerience trying to promote the game among friends, the biggest deterant is the pay to play aspect. Refute all you want, but regarless of skill, a BVE crew is needed to adequately compete. The only way to do that w/o paying is capitalizing on events and hoping for drops, but new players (realistically) wouldn't have the patience for that. In essence, building the playerbase is killed before it can get off the ground because of the time and fincanial commitment required to be a viable player (in comparison with other games). Note: this is even before the growing pains of a first time grind through BB1-3. This does make NF unique though. I will not deny NF uniqueness and it does provide a sense of pride for being a talented player. Yet a compromise between access and playability for beginers and the elitism of skilled veterans will need to be achived.

Growing the playerbase is a tough nut to crack; however, we have everything to gain from a larger playerbase. Advertising is a great way to get people interested, do it more and more, but what really matters is rentention. If SDE, through a multi-faceted gameplay revamp, can make NF an attractive competitor in today's gaming market in order to gain and keep loyal players, we wont have to have conversations like this.
