Just curious,

In the event that you are levelling a relatively new BO with crew otherwise too highly levelled to participate in blitz, what are good strategies for surviving and gaining attack in GB?  One thing I've noticed, since the days of my old account, is that the variety of ships in G.B. has diminished immensely (and yes, those were in the days of blitz).  Whereas you used to have dynamic, line-changing battles with all levels of ships represented ... G.B. to more or less have become a high-end BB slug-fest - one in which, by the time the initial lines change, the battle has already been decided.  So, say you're a Mogami or Baltimore or whatever .. who just happens to have disproportionately high-levelled gunners and supports which prevent participation in blitz:  how do you survive and contribute to your team in a meaningful manner?

Italy AA work badly with new low level gunner so i use HH instead and it easy to spray HH near enemy and get some damage i got my bb1 and cv1 now it work for me.

Agreed. Either AA or be a ninja ship. Strike from the shadows and when other BBs are engaging and not paying attention. The middle is the perfect area as it gives you quick access to north and south.

Waiting until the BBs thin out to about 3-4 is a good time to try.  Once they are engaged with each other, it's possible to scout, attack, or even distract.

As mentioned AA is excellent. Even with 1 plane shot down, you get shared XP so it's the safest method for a low level.

Keep in mind that if you team is being rolled over then don't expect these things to work out.

This. Fictorying in the middle when the game starts is suicide, you'll have more freedom to move beyond the battlefront after both team (or just the enemy team) loses a considerable amount of BBs.

AAing is usually the easiest way to get shared exp as mentioned, but when your team is overwhelmingly winning, or that the team is filled with too many KM AAs, this will no longer be the case.

DontBeHatin

Your contribution to your team is to draw a volley or two of fire from the enemy BB6's, or take on a wave of bombers from the enemy CV, or absord the torps from an SS to buy your BBs and CVs an extra 30secs of life

-AA

-ASW

-patrol the line and pick off anything that comes into range. such as the DDs, FFs, CLs that like to rush (so that the BBs don't get distracted by the free food and might actually sink some of the enemy BBs that are using the distraction to wipe them out)

-scout if you have any scout planes on a CL/CA, or use other planes for fighters/bombing if you're on one of the Jap Hybrids (Oyodo/Mogami)

-look for holes in the enemy's vision/coverage.  either to distract their BBs if your team is losing, or if you're on the winning team, to get through their lines and hit their AA ships/CVs. even getting some free shots in on a BB does damage to them.

from level 12-28 carry PHH and hunt subs and smaller ships.

levels 28-91 shoot planes and sometimes subs if you have PHH

from level 91-120 shoot larger BBs

rinse and repeat

Sub hunting, and rushing to kill the CV in the final moments of the game ^^ PHH works wonders

Pre-Colorado I just equipped a Cleveland to have PHH, and roamed around sinking subs, and then when we were about to secure victory, rush forward and (try to) sink the enemy CVs. It provides lots of damage, and plenty of XP.

Hey, instead of compliant about being a non BB,CV or SS, enjoy it! Imagine if you are a BB, every day, you have to zig zag along the boarder untill some one made a mistake to rush and you blast him, but in the same time, you will always find yourself blind with no scout on, yelling at ur teamates while getting bombed by a BB in the shadow or a sub that is muching your bulge.

Also, for the CVs, everyday they have to deploy waves of aircrafts in to the sky, sounds cool right? The truth is, being a CV is pretty stressful, you have to always look into the sky for incomming bomber and fighters and scouts and have to entercept them yet sometimes you can do nothing about the T4 fighters on ur head while they are camping you( FOR GOD SAKE I WANNA LUANCH SOME PLANE!!!!) And if ur team's BBs are all dead, you will probably get slaughtered by the enemy BBs.

And last but not least, subs, if being SS1~2 is already frustrating enough(low exp and credit yield per game), get a load of this, despite being the slowest ship in the game, sub does have some stealth, but all the sub players know that at anytime while they are in enemy line, there is a chance of a storm of HH, DC or torpedos come out of nowhere and kill them, critical dive is an option but the timing must be correct, but 90% of the time, a sub player will be killed by a nasty suprise.( if you surfaced in the enemy line while there is BB around, just get ready to be PWNED)

so as you can see,  being a BB CV or SS sucks more than any noob can ever imagine, though they are the major player of a GB, still, no BB CV or SS can ever live without these auxiliary ships' minor but critical role in the battle field.
